This has been the longest week ever!!! I need Thanksgiving Break. Just heard the announcement "Please release Mr.__________________ 5th period class to the cafeteria. You guessed it, field trip I knew nothing about. And at this late hour, his problem and not mine!!!
And passes - I swear I want to kill these teachers. How hard is it to fill out a darn pass?? Especially when we are doing tardy freezes randomly this week.
Or they can complete a pass with every single box checked under symptoms with a diagnosis and treatment plan written and don't forget the frowny face!!! However, they cannot write the kid's name ant what time they left class.

I end my Friday with detention coverage after school. And you have to have been really misbehaving to get detention on a Friday, so it is always a fun group.
Also, dealing with possible Noro Virus earlier this year! So glad we have Veteran's Day off next week at my school...

You guys get passes???! I get little corners of paper torn off with "Susie to nurse" with a time written on it. The kids (high schoolers) are supposed to carry an assignment book around that staff are supposed to sign for passes, but I would say 75% of students don't use them or lose them by the 2nd week of school.
This HAS been the longest week ever, and I am not even sure why.

Why in the world do you as the NURSE have to do detention coverage?
I work at a charter school. Everyone here takes turns with after school coverage, despite your role, it is in your contract. I work 8-5 most days and if I am needed for a nursing task during my after school coverage, someone else steps in. I actually don't mind it as it lets me get to know the kids outside my office, which actually helps me better help them IN my office as those getting detention are often frequent fliers.
I also am the yearbook adviser at my school, but I do get paid extra for that.

I am in a small school and have all sorts of responsibilities not related to being the Nurse. Everyone has to wear many hats. I am responsible for attendance, coordinating dismissal, health class curriculum and teaching, graduation cap and gowns, admin for our data system and more. In my schools there's less I don't have a role in than I do. I like being involved in so many aspects of the school.
