Texas Women University FALL 2016

Published

Anyone applying to Texas Women University? I recently attended an information session and spoke to Ms.Victoria the nursing coordinator for TWU. What are your stats? What advice to you give when studying for the TEAS? I know you have to apply for TWU first then get accepted. Then you apply to TWU NURSING. But I am somewhat confused on that process. I went to the apply portal and it does not give me the option to apply for FAll of 2016. I may have to wait. Any current TWU students that can give me any advice on the application process. It will be of great help. Thank you!

Can one of yall copy and paste the email? I haven't been getting these emails from the nursing offices

Dallas

They don't like us to say names on this board but the number is (940) 898-2284. I emailed her and she forwarded to the woman who was processing my application.

Thank you @lexlonghorn I just called and sent an email!

If you didn't get this one I'd contact an advisor ;)

I was expecting news after spring break so I'm not too disappointed by this email. Waiting with fingers crossed now

I see that TWU is open during Spring break according to their academic calendar. It could possibly be the week of Spring break is when we will hear something.

Turns out I got the email it just went to junk for some reason. Thank you to who posted it though!

I'm not positive about this but I don't think the pre-nursing staff works during Spring break. That's just what I have seen on threads from previous years

Hi all, this is Heather Close, Nursing Admissions Coordinator for TWU. Today has been a hectic day for us here in Denton.

As you've heard, email acceptances for the Dallas and Houston traditional nursing programs did indeed go out this morning. Printed letters are forthcoming in the mail. Our new Google email system has been sneaky and sending some of my emails to spam folders, so check there, too. Those of you who received an offer (congratulations!), please make sure to accept or decline your offer by March 23rd. Once you've sent those forms in, you have nothing left to do until your new campus contacts you with more details. They won't be doing this until after spring break when I give them the list of confirmed students. (They don't know who you are until then.)

If you did NOT receive an email, regrettably, that likely means you won't get in. I'm very sorry. I say likely, because we do add more students as the confirmations/declines come in. You will not know for certain until rejections are sent out. Rejections will not go out until all spots are confirmed, so probably not until after spring break.

We are often surprised by the great students who do not make it in. I know it can be tough and a shock, but please know that the same admission formula is used for all students. It literally comes down to a formula and everyone is ranked based upon that formula score. Try not to compare GPAs and TEAS because the preferences awarded for having half (or more) of your prerequisites from TWU or for having a bachelor's degree do make comparisons hard.

That being said, it looks like the preliminary stats/averages for this semester are the following:

Dallas (360 total applicants)

GPA = 3.77

TEAS Composite Score = 86.03

Dallas Weekend/Evening program (74 applicants)

GPA = 3.69

TEAS = 86.67

Houston (319 applicants)

GPA = 3.56

TEAS = 82.80

Okay, now that I've said all that, I'm going to log out. I will NOT be monitoring this thread. (I had to recreate my Allnurses.com account just to post.) If you have questions or concerns, give us a call - 940-898-2401 - or go to our Facebook page. One of our advisors monitors that page. Please do not call and ask about your number on the "waiting list," though. We aren't going to start telling students where they fell until we have a better idea of how many accept/decline their spots. Check back with us after spring break.

Regards.

I found this post from the TWU Fall 2015 forum. It should give us some idea of how our stats compare to previous semesters.

Thanks for sharing! Do the average scores typically represent the cut-off score?

That's the tricky thing. You shouldn't go by GPA or TEAS score even though they give you some kind of idea. Go by points only. For Houston, the cut off is usually in the mid 30s and for Dallas the cut off is usually in the 40s.
