Texas Women University FALL 2016

Published

Anyone applying to Texas Women University? I recently attended an information session and spoke to Ms.Victoria the nursing coordinator for TWU. What are your stats? What advice to you give when studying for the TEAS? I know you have to apply for TWU first then get accepted. Then you apply to TWU NURSING. But I am somewhat confused on that process. I went to the apply portal and it does not give me the option to apply for FAll of 2016. I may have to wait. Any current TWU students that can give me any advice on the application process. It will be of great help. Thank you!

Has anyone asked if they have an estimate of when acceptance letters will be sent out?

I feel like it's going to be really late since this is their first time with the NursingCas system. Also with a lot of people's transcripts not arriving or being verified on time. I'm thinking late March or April we'll know.

I hope it's not as late as April. I know the new system is also making it faster for them in some ways. So maybe it will balance out and we will find out around mid-March. That's what I'm hoping... I might call sometime in the next couple days and see if they have any idea when we will find out. I just don't want to bug them because I'm sure they're really busy. I talked to someone the other day who confirmed that my application was processed and told me my score. She said that they will contact us once all of the applications are processed.

I think it will be sooner than late April. I believe they will start rolling out letters in the middle of March. They may start sending acceptances out in waves as soon as more people clear nursingCAS. I don't think their are large numbers of applicants tied up waiting for approval, the odds are against a huge number. Just my thoughts anyhow....

@lexlonghorn

If you do call, please tell us what they say. I was thinking of calling also but felt the same way you did about bugging them. I think we still have a good 2-3 weeks before anyone gets acceptance letters so I'm trying not to think about it every single day because that will only make the wait much longer haha

I hope we'll have news around spring break. Let's see what happens

I will definitely let you know if I talk to them. I know it will at least be another 2-3 weeks but this waiting is torture! It's hard not to think about it. I hope we find out before TWU's spring break. I believe they have the same spring break as my school, which is March 14-18.

Hey guys! Ive been following this post, but never posted. Just thought Id share I emailed with ----------------- yesterday, she said they are running a bit behind because of the new nursingcas system but they hope to have offers out around spring break. Which is mid March for them, the 14th-20th I think. Also, she said no offers will be out until all applications have been processed. Hope this helps some! Sorry if I missed some comments and this is old information :)

Thanks for letting us know! That's about what I expected. Let's hope it's before spring break so we don't have to spend that week wondering... (:

I wonder how many people applied to each campus this time around. Maybe nursingcas lowered the usual applicants or actually more applied because of nursingcas. Hopefully March will come fast!!

FutureRN2018,

I have wondered the same thing. If more people applied than in past semesters, I might be cutting it close. However, if less applied, that will better for us all. I really think that with the difficulty of CAS, less people applied. I know it will be easier on the coordinators once it isn't so new to them, but it is definitely harder than when I applied last semester.

Hello all! My name is Sarah, and I also applied for Fall 2016, although I am very skeptical that I have done well enough to make it in. Here are my stats:

Overall GPA: 3.65

Pre-req GPA: 3.68

TEAS V Score: 85.3%

No TWU or previous Bachelor's bump

Also, I spoke with my advisor yesterday. He is one of the ones in charge of sorting through the applications this term. He said they have about 2 weeks left for finishing processing everyone (that was an estimate). He also told me everything is taking longer because there are way more applicants. NursingCAS has really opened their application up to a lot of people all over the U.S. that maybe never would have considered TWU otherwise. He said it is not necessarily a bad thing for those of us that are closer to home because a lot of the applicants that are further away do not have the required pre-reqs done. However, it is slowing them down to have to weed through so much. I am hopeful that we will hear something by early to mid March.

Also, I have a good friend that just finished the TWU nursing program. Her acceptance came in early May. She said this was because they do it in waves. They send out offer letters to top choices first. Some may not accept, and then they do another wave to finish filling spots. So regardless, I will try not to get my hopes up or down until May. But like I said, I am not feeling too competitive compared to you awesome ladies. Hope this info helped, and good luck to all!

@sedavis1983

Are you applying to Houston or Dallas? I was told that Houston has around 330-340 applicants this semester.
