Texas renewal

Published

I have questions regarding renewal of RN license? What does the renewal fee include? Does that also include a criminal background check or do I pay for that separate? This is my first time to renew. I just received my license in February 2009 and my license expires April 30th 2009.

Thanks

Hope everyone had a wonderful Turkey Day with their loved ones:)

According to the info on the Texas board of nursing site: criminal background check is not required for renewal of license only required for initial nursing licensure.

The fee for renewing a license is listed near the top of the license renewal form.

Hope that helps

All you do is pay the renewal fees. Since Texas stopped issuing wallet-sized nursing licenses in 2008, you will not receive one in the mail. Your updated information will appear online at the BNE website. The previous poster is correct when stating that you do not need another criminal background check for simple renewals.

Also, if your license expires in April 2010, your renewal time frame will not start until late February 2010, because you have a 60 day window to renew.

Sometimes I just want to beat myself to death with a baseball bat....

I am almost sure this a negative post in regards to my question. I really don't understand the sarcasm. I had a legitimate question, but as usual when I come to this site, someone belittles me. I guess that is what nurses are famous for-being rude and belittling others. Thanks and may your family have a safe and happy holiday season:)

Two people enabled you and I'm giving you free therapy in a manner that you should never forget. Every now and then a nurse, who is responsible for taking care of sick people and using critical thinking skills, asks a question about their license.

Who do you contact about your RN license?

A. CVS pharmacy

B. A nursing forum

C. Your state BON

D. Driver's license office

Any other question you have, I'd be glad to answer...after you have done a little work on it yourself. :loveya:

My biggest question was whether or not the "April 30th 2009" in her OP was a typo or not. That could be a problem in itself. :coollook:

Oh my gosh! The answer is "C"? I had no idea. Thank you wise kind one. I am forever indebted to you for your wise knowledge. For your information, I have complete knowledge of the BON. I was just clarifying some things. You are a really rude person and I hope that someone treats you in the same respect someday.

Not using this site anymore. People are rude.

There was sarcasm by 'Zenman' but i fully understand how she may be so frustrated by your question. It's just so hard to believe that one can get through nursing school and go through all that paper work to get an initial license only to ask on a nursing forum about RN renewals. Think about it.

If you have complete knowledge of the BON why are you asking questions...that should be asked of the BON...since they have the final say on your license.

I'm not trying to be rude...since I'm not...but only trying to get you to think...in case you ever take care of me or my family.
