:crying2:Well I had the tetorifice shot today and I must say, shots normally dont bother me, but my arm is literally throbbing and killing me and that is AFTER taking two aleve! Did you guys have a similiar result with this shot or I am I just lucky??
The teatnus shot is really just supposed to make the muscle sore for a couple of days, at least that is what mine does, and you have to get it renewed every 10 years. I heard the Meningitis shot hurts a lot. Worst shot I ever had to get was typhoid fever, that one actually made me nauseous and dizzy.
yes it hurt: here's the drug monograph:

tetorifice toxoid booster vaccine; for im or sc inj; contains thimerosal.
legal classification:
rx
pharmacological class:
tetorifice vaccine.

indications:
tetorifice immunization booster.
adults and children:
contraindications:
not for primary immunization. history of systemic allergic or neurologic reactions to a previous dose of dt.

latex allergy. previous arthus-type hypersensitivity reaction: do not give more frequently than every 10 years. defer in moderate or severe active respiratory or other febrile infection (may vaccinate if mild or minor illness) or during polio outbreak. bleeding disorders (use sc route). immunosuppressed. history of guillain-barre syndrome within 6 weeks of last tetorifice vaccine. have epinephrine (1:1000) available. elderly. pregnancy (cat.c). nursing mothers.

may get suboptimal response with immunosuppressants (eg, chemotherapy, high dose corticosteroids ≥2 weeks, radiation); consider deferring.

local reactions (eg, erythema, tenderness), malaise, fever, hypotension, pain, nausea, arthralgia; rare: neurological disorders.
Oh, don't even get me started on this shot!! Actually, I got a Tdap, so it was more than just tetorifice, but it made for a miserable weekend. I had almost every stupid side effect you could have...headache, nausea, arm was swollen, couldn't raise my arm, and nearly took my husband's head off when he accidentally touched where the injection was given.
Today, which is five days after the shot, I can move my arm pretty well but it is still very sore to the touch and my arm is still swollen.
I did what they said and tried to move around as much as possible, but when you can't move your arm without crying, it's hard to do! I HATED that shot...*shudder*
The things we do for nursing school....lol!

My tetorifice shot hurt so bad for a few days. My injection site was swollen and it hurt with the slightest touch. There was a pretty noticable bump there for a few weeks too. I am glad you only have to get it every 10 years.
