Testing 8/24

Well, I am down to it, testing on Sunday. I think I am driving myself crazy/sick this week.

I just did QT 6 and scored a 62.5%

QT 5: 62.7

QT 4: 60.7

QT 3: 60

QT 2: 53.3

QT 1: 64

Diagnostic was 66.67

Readiness was 62. 2

Kaplan is messing with my head and I hate it. I am almost convinced I am going to fail because of these scores. I will do QT 7 tommorow and re-evaluate then. Honestly at this point I almost feel like just paying the $ to renew my LPN license and chalking the RN up to a loss. ( I know I won't but I am just feeling SO bad right now).

Funny thing is, I felt really good about it until I went through the Kaplan course. My scores have consistently gone down. The only reason I went to it was because my employer required it for new grads, otherwise I would have stuck to my Saunders. (WHich I was doing much better with I might add)

GRRRR....anyone else felt/feel this way??

Lori i think i am channeling you haha! i take my test on the 26th and feel the exact same way! everytime i finish a qbank test with kaplan i want to kill myself...we are not trained to think that 60-70%% is a good score ya know?? i think at this point its just fatigue setting in..take a big break go get ice cream and enjoy the rest of ur night!

Your scores aren't that bad. Just try to read the information from the book in the areas that you're weaker in. Read the rationales for both the questions you get right and the especially the ones you get wrong.

As far as comparing the scores between Kaplan and Saunders, you can't. I did both and to me (IMHO) Saunders was much easier, so of course you're going to think that you're doing better. In my experience, I think Kaplan is a much better as far as questions are concerned, they're a lot more challenging.

I also might add, the 24th is my birthday, so you will have some of my birthday luck to go with you, lol. Good luck!!!

Your Kaplan scores look good as they are consistently above 60%. It is not a secret that the NCLEX is focusing on safety, infection control, prioirty and delegation as their socalled higher level questions. If you are weak in any of these areas, I would put a little emphasis there. Plus doing about 100 questions a day and studying the rationales for each question (right and wrong) will help as well. I passed the NCLEX with Kaplan scores similar to yours.

So you will be able to change your username to LoriRN. Good luck.

stay positive and don't give up! you have come so far....try not to rely just on kaplan's scores--i personally would never recommend kaplan to anyone, but that is just my opinion. the nclex is totally its very own exam---imo nothing to compare it to. so stay strong, positive and go take that exam on sunday with your head held high and remember to breathe!!!!! good luck! :)

Best of luck to you!:anpom:

Thank you everyone. I was feeling better but then I just finished QT 7 and got a whopping 58 on it!

UGH!!!! I think I am studying myself into stupidity here.

I think I am going to be sick. Seriously ill. I feel like I wasted a lot of time and money to go nowhere. And I have to test on Sunday. I checked the schedule and cannot get another date until late Sept, which is too late according to my employer (I had to test within 90 days of hire)

*sigh* I am just bracing myself for the storm I guess.

omg i understand completely!!!! I am doing the qbank questions. Started out in the 70's middle 60. now flip-floping from 64% to 50's. It is killing me. the more i study the worst i do on test. I can honestly say, I think i know (remember more) but the scores are making me nuts. It def. makes you want to reschedule, I totally understand. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I take mine on the 29th, 9 days away. you taking your's in Indy??

I am glad I am not the only one feeling this way toward the Kaplan!

Yes, I am testing in Indy. How about you?

be prepared for lots of SATAs, fill in the blanks, math questions which aren't hard, tricky neuro questions, meds, meds, meds, prioritization and whatever. As much as i hate these difficult questions, i'd rather get them and stop at 75 instead of getting a mix of easy questions and not being sure.

yes, indy the 29th @2pm!!! Sending passing vibes to you!!! So nervous! Yea I pray it stops at 85 (LPN)!!! Everyone I have graduated with, so far is getting 85/86 and passing. So I pray i get a low number!!!

GOOD LUCK !!!

:typinghi, just wanted to tell ya good luck with your test. i tested on friday and all i can say is go ahead and test now..while everything is fresh on your mind. relax, breath and look at every question carefully! nclex world is perfect! u have all equipment, all orders, all staff all the time...imagine you are going to see all patients, just imagine which one you would run to first, and which ones could wait a min. that was my strategy and that helped me relax and concentrate...otherwise you will be flipping out! don't look at the number of q or time...it will only make you panic!

good luck and rip this test to shreds!!!!
