  1. Outstanding!!!! Congratulations.
  2. I did Lynn's Workshop and loved every minute of it as I needed help with the labs. Some people do not need to attend a workshop. It is all about personal preference. BTW, I tested at St. Peters in October. Good luck.
  3. I did get a pediatric patient when I tested at St. Peters. When I arrived, I was told that the pediatric patient census normally is low; but you should be prepared for any patient. The testing staff were nice....they wanted to see you succeed but had no problems failing you if you did not meet the standards. I do encourage you to scope out the hospital at least the morning of your arrival.....I was confused when I walked into the building thinking that I was on the first floor where the lobby was only to find out that I was in the basement. Good luck, if you have more specific questions let me know.
  4. i completed the army's lpn course in 1992 and feel that the army offered some great opportunities to me. at the time, i did not want to be a rn so i completed a bachelors and masters degree in an unrelated field. it is funny how life takes you for a loop as i passed the rn after completing nursing school. when i was in the army, years ago, civilian lpns were brought in at higher ranks while of the initial training was complete....yes the civilian lpns had to complete a basic medic course which most thought was a waste of time but it allowed the former civilian lpn to get used to the army's medical system. after completion of initial training, they were promoted to the rank of sergeant and had to complete a basic leadership course asap. while i was in the army, i worked in the pacu, icu, telemetry and ob, develop great assessment skills as well as leadership skills. if you are looking for life changing experiences, you will get them especially since are at war. please please talk to a recruiter and get everything that you want in writing before you re-start your army career.......for example, back in 1988, i met a civilian trained pa who was convinced that he needed to enlist in the army as a medic in order to work as a pa in the army......boy was he upset....but the recruiter probably met his quota (i mean target)
  5. Your Kaplan scores look good as they are consistently above 60%. It is not a secret that the NCLEX is focusing on safety, infection control, prioirty and delegation as their socalled higher level questions. If you are weak in any of these areas, I would put a little emphasis there. Plus doing about 100 questions a day and studying the rationales for each question (right and wrong) will help as well. I passed the NCLEX with Kaplan scores similar to yours. So you will be able to change your username to LoriRN. Good luck.
  6. I have to disagree. I think that the Kaplan program is great for those of us who need to sit in a classroom and to have someone go over the information with us. I graduated nursing school in December 2007 and studied on my own for months using Saunders with no progress before my wife, who is a RN, suggested that I take the Kaplan Review Course. It was a great investment. I passed the NCLEX with 75 questions on my first attempt. The NCLEX 3500 is a great software application and I used it after I completed Kaplan's Qbank BUT I am not convinced that I would have passed the NCLEX using NCLEX 3500 exclusively. Bottom line, find a review program that fits your learning style......and do your own research.
  7. In my opinion, the NCLEX 3500 software was a great tool, you also may want to get a good book to assist with delegation and prioroty questions such as Prioritization, Delegation Assignment by Linda LaCharity
  8. I just found out that I passed the NCLEX-RN exam with 75 questions. To prepare for the exam, I used Kaplan Complete including its Q-Bank and NCLEX 3500. I did not have any medication calculation questions on the exam but did have a few priority, safety and infection control questions plus many medications from TV ads. Thank you ALLNURSES and good louck to those of you who continue to prepare for the exam!:loveya:
  9. Congratulations!!!! and thanks for sharing your experience.
  10. The notice of cancellation is located on the opposite side of the purchase agreement. Your probably were not informed of this policy because "they" don't want you to know about the cancellation clause. I purchased my study guides from ebay after successfully ended my contract with the College Network. Good luck.
  11. It appears that the study guides either from Chancellor, RUE, the College Network (TCN) or Professional Data Systems (PDS) would be helpful to you. I purchased the TCN and PDS study guides from EBAY and really enjoyed the guides. I don't think that I paid over $30 for each guide. All join some of the Excelsior Study Groups on Yahoo.com. Many students have posted tips for the exams to guide your studying. Of course, since you are a LPN, you don't have to take Nursing Concept 2. Good luck.
  12. You should be skeptical of the College Network if a representative is telling you that the College Network is a school. In fact, the College Network is a publishing company that has helped many student prepare for degrees through Excelisor College and a host of other schools. If you are interested in using the College Network, I encourage you to buy the study guides from Ebay as you will save a lot of money. Also note that some representatives from the College Network are smooth talkers. I'm not saying that they are deceptive but they are eager...very eager to see their guides. You can search this form for great feedback concerning the College Network as well. Good luck.
  13. As of October 2001, you must enroll before taking exam 3-7 unless you are in the military. This is per the Excelsior website.
  14. PM me, I may be able to help you out as I have edition #6 of A&P by Marieb.....but first ensure that it's OK to use a previous edition. When I took A&P I and II through EDUKAN, we had to answer the questions at the end of each chapter. These questions may have changed in the 7th edition.
  15. You CAN do this. Now you know which areas you are weak on, so develop a plan to better prepare yourself to RE-TAKE the exam. I took NC1, 1 week before you did and I thought that it was so hard but I passed it and you can too. Note that Excelsior College wants to produce functional nurses who can think critically. Good luck...
