Test question.

You are reading page 2 of Test question.

A. ASking them what their reaction was will get you the most important information in less words. If you did B, you could get all kinds of stories and such that won't likely give you useful information.

I would say A as well for the same reason. They could answer b in the same answer as A

Well if it were MY test I would choose A. I feel like the rationale for B being wrong would be "A question that asks why is a communion block, and makes the client feel defensive."

That's what ATI has taught me.

Yea That's a good rationale but here's another question. An 81 year old postop patient is being admitted to an assisted care facility. The patient states "I will never be able to go home" what is the most therapeutic response? A. A lot of older patients get admitted to assistive care. B. what makes you think you will be there permanently? C. Assistive care can be very beneficial for your age group. D. I'm willing to bet that you actually enjoy and appreciate this facility once you get there.

I agree! The answer in B is very confrontational and I always think back to psych when analyzing these questions. Dont ask "why" questions or questions that somewhat attack the patient. The answer A really is the only question that gets more info out of the patient as to the type of reaction they might have. If someone said they think they have an allergy to penicillin, you would only wanna know what type of reaction they have had before. I think you were reading too much into it, and I used to be the queen of that so I can understand!

If we don't ask why questions then we assume things such as "this patient had an allergic reaction to peanuts better put this in his chart and fire up the emergency penicillin incase he/she has another allergic reaction to peanuts"

i like answer B better, but A sounds like more of an open ended question, which we all know is a biggie is nursing school :)

What is the answer to your 2nd example?

I'm baffled.

A is non-therapeutic.

C blows off the patients feelings without addressing them.

D is false reassurance.

Not sure what to think about B… What do you think?

It was B which I got right by the grace of God and yes it was brought up during our review about how answer B was therapeutic many students were also baffled but there's always about 15 questions like this on the test just depends on if you answered like she wants you to answer I however made a 65 today and will likely fail as I have now dropped to a 70 avg. pray for a miracle thanks friends!

What has penicillin got to do with an allergy to peanuts?
