Hello, I just wanted to start a thread for those of us applying for the LVN or RN programs at Temple College for 2015. We can share information, discuss any concerns, talk about the HESI exam, getting cleared through the Board of Nursing, or the just nursing program in general! Those of you that are already in the program are more than welcome to chime in.
PLEASE NOTE: I am in no way taking responsibility for any wrong information given, nor will I moderate this thread. I just want to meet new friends and support one another through the process of applying and getting our acceptance letters!
@summerblessing you are awesome..Who is Jordan? Was she an alternate that made it in the ADN program? I'm so disappointed it's not even funny, but I do know that everything happens for a reason. So I am okay with it! I just really wanna get this program done so I can continue my education. I just wanna know what my chances are. Being a single mom and working 40+ hours a week, I really had my dreams set on this! It says for me to still get my blue card just incase a spot opens up. I was going to contact the school for more info.
@clownswife254 - I am Jordan! I was an alternate last year for the LVN to RN bridging program. None of the alternates got a spot last year. I believe there were about 11 or 12 alternates last year total and we were ranked based on the points that they give for acceptance into the program for GPA, corequisites, and residency status or previous TC LVN grad. Nancy would not tell me where I was ranked on the list. If someone who is accepted into the program gives up their spot or if they do not complete all the requirements for the program within the due dates then they will choose from the top ranking on the alternates list.
Temple college sends a list of names to the BON of the accepted and alternates and they will automatically send you your blue card. It didn't take long for me to get mine last year since we are already fingerprinted and registered with the BON. As soon as you get it make sure you bring it to Nancy. I hope this helps! Best of luck to you!
Summer:Thank you so much for taking the time for the info. I have a few more questions if you don't mind.
So if I get this correct then for the 1st year the schedule is as follows:
M- 6:45 to 4 for clinicals no class
T- 6:45 to 4 for clinicals no class
W- 8 to 3 for class
TH- 8 to 3 for class
F- off
Does that sound correct for the 1st year?
For the 2nd year it would be as follows:
M - clinicals and then class from 1 to 4
T - 6:45 to 4 for clinicals no class
W- 8 to 3 for class
TH- 8 to 3 for class
F - off
Does that sound correct for the 2nd year?
You mentioned that some people do 12 hour clinicals on Friday so is it possible to do the 12 hour Friday clinicals in both the 1st and 2nd year or is that only for the 2nd year?
Also, what is the time for the 12 hour clinicals?
My major concern is that with my husband living in another state and with me having children the only problem I would have is that there would be no way I could be there in the morning for 6:45 am.
I would have no problem getting there on time for the days for 8:00 am and the 12 hour clinicals on Friday I would probably be able to do that since it was only one day a week.
So do they allow students to do the 12 hour Friday clinical for both the 1st and 2nd year?
Also, where are the clinicals held?
Thank you again for all the help.
Lisa
Summer:
Thank you for all the help.
I know that you first became a LVN and then bridged into the ADN program, but
I had a few questions about the overall process and was wondering if you might
know some about it.
1. I know that TC only offers the Nursing Exam in February and March...is it alright to
take it at another college that offers it year round (if not wanting to wait till next year)
or will TC not accept it from another college?
2. For example...if someone took one of the non-science corequeset courses(ie PSYC)
say about 5 years ago and made a B and then decided to take it over again this past
year and made an A will they use the A score to factor in for the ADN program or
will they average the two?
Thank you.
Lisa
For the people applying for the ADN program this year do ya have all of your
co-requisite courses (ie 2420 Micro, 2314 Psyc Lifespan, Elective) completed
or just mainly the pre-requisites.
If all the pre-reqs are completed but some of the co-reqs are not is it possible
to be accepted into the program?
Thanks
Lisa
I have all of the Co-Reqs except for AP2 and Micro done(they are currently IP), speaking to the lady she made it seem that a high HESI score and a 3.5+ GPA with the prereqs would make you a competitive candidate. Everything else is just Bonus points from there on out.
Thanks for the information.
Since you are currently taking AP2 and Micro will they be used in determing your
points for admission or not?
Also, is taking AP2 and Micro at the same time very hard? Because to me it would
seem like those two classes together would be hard.
Well I won't be applying this year....I don't understand why TC only has one admission
a year when CTC and MCC has two admissions a year for the Fall and Spring semesters.
Yes, i think...the lady told me to bring my updated transcripts as soon as I was able to get my final grades posted for this semester. Well its certainly harder then when I took AP1 as my only science course but I did very well on it and just felt like taking micro and AP2 would be manageable. I am about halfway through the classes and have A's in both it just requires more strategic studying. I have to be a little more on top of it but I feel taking these 2 courses at the same time will help in the nursing program in the long run.

Jordan was an alternate last year. You never know, though! Alot of things could happen to get you in a spot.
