Are you trying for MCC?

Temple College 2015
I have heard from other people that CTC is the hardest to get into in this area.

Actually based upon MCC's point system they look much easier to get in then TC. If someone has a 4.0 in all their pre-reqs and co-reqs then they automatically get 43 points...and as long as they make a minimum score of 75 on required sections and a reading score above 95 then they get the full 3 points for the test. The only point that would be in questions is the 1 point for county resident if someone lived outside the county. I also remember reading on here from someone else that they have a lot less applying at MCC compared to TC so it gives a better chance at MCC.....and then you also got the fact that MCC has two admissions a year compared to TC's one.

I was wondering if anyone would know the answer to this question. Concerning the pre-req and co-req courses, is there a time limit as to how old they can be? I know that the science courses usually have to be taken within the past 5 years for most admission to nursing programs, but the other courses like Psych and Engl how old can they be?

So for people with previous other degrees.....when your talking about the financial aid at TC is that mainly loans or do they provide scholarships or grants that don't have to be repaid?

Has anyone thought of applying to Austin Community College as a last resort? I have heard that CTC is probably the hardest and most competitive to get into in this area. It also seems like MCC has a better chance to get into since they don't have as many people applying compared to TC.

I think the reason they go by the numbers and don't require or take into account personal statements or references is so that the process is objective and fair. At least that away everyone has a fair chance. With personal statements and references then the process becomes subjective and potentially unfair.

Thank the Lord for some good news. That was the one class I would not have finished for next years application term.

Texas BON and Declatory Order
I have a friend who has a DWI that is sending in her Declatory Order. She is afraid of what they will say. So you said they gave you stipulations. What are the stipulations?

So is A&P as hard as everyone says it is or is possible to make an "A" in it if Science is not a person strong subject? By the way, I was talking with a person today who recently moved from CA after graduating nursing school in 2013. They said that a lot of new graduates, including themself, was having a hard time finding a job as a new graduate. This person had to move to Texas just to get a job in a hospital. They also mentioned that a number of their classmates still have not found nursing jobs since graduating in 2013. Sounds pretty scarey about the job market for new graduates.

For any of you that applied to the TC program....did any of you take A&P 1 and 2 and Microbiology as online courses? And are they accepted like the regular classroom courses? Thanks

Texas BON and Declatory Order
When you say you had yours sealed back in 2010 do you mean a Non-Disclosure for a deferred adjudication?

The HARD Truth for most nurses
Is this a career change for you or did you go straight to nursing school after high school?

On a general note....after reading post on these forums I have noticed that a lot of individuals are starting to say that the job market for an ADN new graduate is not the best. Do any of you have a concern about the job market after graduating from an ADN program? Also, do any know how is the job market in the central Texas area for new ADN graduates?

Texas Bon-help
Since it was deferred adj have you been able to have it sealed yet? If you have gotten it sealed then it states on the BON Order that you do not have to disclose it but the BON will still be able to see it. I know from talking to other people that some who had their def. adj. sealed did not disclose it and waited to see what the BON did...then there were others who did disclose it anyway. A lot depends on what type of charge it is.
