Hello, I just wanted to start a thread for those of us applying for the LVN or RN programs at Temple College for 2015. We can share information, discuss any concerns, talk about the HESI exam, getting cleared through the Board of Nursing, or the just nursing program in general! Those of you that are already in the program are more than welcome to chime in.
PLEASE NOTE: I am in no way taking responsibility for any wrong information given, nor will I moderate this thread. I just want to meet new friends and support one another through the process of applying and getting our acceptance letters!
YAY! I am so happy for everyone that got in the LVN program!! Congrats! The bridgers still have about 30 days or so until we find out if we got in or not. Seems like FOREVER....
Geo820, I work at the VA in Temple inpatient Medical/Oncology unit. That's how Summer and I know each other because we worked there together before she got into the bridge program. :)
Geo820 -- Yes ma'am! I am anxiously awaiting, too! This is my second year applying...last year I got alternate but did not get in. If they send them out the Friday before spring break like they say they are then we have about 20 days or so left depending on when it gets to your mailbox. :)
Hello:
I am interested in eventually applying to the ADN program at Temple College once I finish all my pre-reqs but I have a few concerns that I was hoping some of you might be able to answer about the ADN program at Temple College.
1. For anyone who has been in the ADN program or had friends in is it mostly younger students or are there older students (ie 40's 50's etc) in the program?
2. I was also wondering how is the schedule of the classes during the week? What is the earliest time in the morning classes start and the latest time in the evening they end?
3. I noticed on the Temple College nursing web page that it states "Our nursing students must be available for day, evening, and possibly weekends for clinicals". So how is the schedule for clinicals usually determined....what are the hours and if your not able to do evenings if you have family to care for does the school take that into consideration and work with you?
I appreciate any responses.
Lisa.
Lisa,
I am in the ADN program right now.
My class is pretty diverse. The youngest person is 19, and the oldest is 40ish. Most of us are 25-30 though.
The first year and most of the second year are the same. Its full time monday thur thursday.. mon & tuesday are clinical days from 6:45 to 4, BUT the last year, you have class monday afternoon from 1-4 and clinical monday morning, instead of all day clinical on mondays.
However, some people do 12 hour friday clinicals, and they have monday MORNINGS off but have to come to Monday class... and they are off all day tuesday.
Wednesdays and thursdays are all day class from 8 to 3.
Unless u have friday clinical, u are off Fridays... and although it says "students are subject blah blah" there are no weekend or evening classes.
And no, they dont take into consideration that u have a family. Lol if u miss, u miss hours. And you are only allowed to miss about 20-24 hours a semester, or you get kicked from the program.
Hope this helps!!

Summer:
Thank you so much for taking the time for the info. I have a few more questions if you don't mind.
So if I get this correct then for the 1st year the schedule is as follows:
M- 6:45 to 4 for clinicals no class
T- 6:45 to 4 for clinicals no class
W- 8 to 3 for class
TH- 8 to 3 for class
F- off
Does that sound correct for the 1st year?
For the 2nd year it would be as follows:
M - clinicals and then class from 1 to 4
T - 6:45 to 4 for clinicals no class
W- 8 to 3 for class
TH- 8 to 3 for class
F - off
Does that sound correct for the 2nd year?
You mentioned that some people do 12 hour clinicals on Friday so is it possible to do the 12 hour Friday clinicals in both the 1st and 2nd year or is that only for the 2nd year?
Also, what is the time for the 12 hour clinicals?
My major concern is that with my husband living in another state and with me having children the only problem I would have is that there would be no way I could be there in the morning for 6:45 am.
I would have no problem getting there on time for the days for 8:00 am and the 12 hour clinicals on Friday I would probably be able to do that since it was only one day a week.
So do they allow students to do the 12 hour Friday clinical for both the 1st and 2nd year?
Also, where are the clinicals held?
Thank you again for all the help.
Lisa
