I moved to Texas from Canada ,had to fight to get my LVN license
(had a LPN from canada)..
now I am doing correspondence via NEW YORK to get my RN (AS in Nursing)
I'm sure there are many of you out there who are going that route or who have accomplished it already??????
My question .....is there any Grandma's like me .....
or what is your opinion on what age is to old .....
Presently I am an Alzheimer Unit Administrator....
but Nursing is my PASSION
I just graduated from Excelsior with my AAS May 2007. I'm 54. I'm now enrolled in the BSN program there. I'm hoping to graduated before I'm 62.:typing:yeah:
Yeah! I am both impressed and inspired. Please tell me - I like the idea of a comprehensive clinical test, one of the reasons I am at Excelsior. After passing it did you feel ready to take on an RN job?

P.S. What's "old"? It's all between the two ears, I think!
Ginger - look on the Excelsior web site - I heard that the wait time for the CPNE has improved greatly.
Nope, not yet. EC has some ideas, including weekdays CPNEs and trying to open new test sites, but it's taking time. I applied for my CPNE in November and I'm still waiting on a test date, let alone taking the actual exam.
Absolutely not. I'm older than you and have been working on this for several years. I'm now awaiting my CPNE date and very nervous. You're never to old, but I have to admit, I thought I was the only one that was older. Welcome. Any advice out there for the CPNE would be great. Keep up the good work Ginger.
Hi,
No, you are not too old. It wouldn't matter if you are 75. It is what you have a passion for and what you want to do.
I am 42 years old. I am not an LVN or LPN. I was in a traditional RN program and dropped out before my last semester. I have had the same questions too as you. Don't ever let your age or title affect what your goals and what makes your life full.
May all your dreams come true.
