So the kid thinks he 'killed' the bear or that the bear is bleeding to death? Then you try to put another line in and the kid thinks that you are going to drain his blood too!

This is wrong on so many levels!

I always thought they should make IV fluids with plastic fish or decos floating in them. Sterile of course.

But I was reading something about what children thought when a RN said "needle stick" - and instead of somethign cutesy an dgentle, they thought of a huge stick covered with needles!

I remember when I was a kid and a friend's sister was horribly burnt in an accident and she had to got to intenstive care, when the teacher said that's where she was, I thought "if she's so sick, why don't they put her in the hospital?" and whenever we drove past I always looked for the tents.

I dunno....that bloody bear creeps me out. I can't imagine that being very therapeutic. Like the PP said, it looks like the bear is bleeding to death---into the peds pt! It's just creepy!!!

That's hilarious! I love kid's imaginations!

I don't agree with it...when it's a square bag, it becomes a thing, when it looks like a toy, it becomes a "living thing" to a child.

No way would I want that near my kids if they needed blood.

A bleeding teddy bear... not sure this is the greatest idea ever. :uhoh21:

Oh, it looks like it has a frown :(

Actually very impractical....somebody would have to reposition it to drain the arms and other leg.

I was thinking that too, truern -the blood has got to pool in the bears extremities, making in necessary to drain and reposition.

Now the idea of sterile plastic fish in the iv bag - that's a keeper!

That bear creeps me out...:o
