TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?

TEAS EXAM: I failed... Anyone take it with some advice? I failed the science portion. GRR... I am very weak on life science and general science. I was wondering, if you take it the second time, is it the same test or is it a different one with all new answers?

Thanks, I need all the help I can get!

Based on the different posts, there appears to be a consensus that "rock and or rock types" are on the TEAS exam. There also appears to be a consensus that the ATI study guide touches on all the information that I will be tested on. Well, I have the ATI study guide for the TEAS V exam, but I do not see anything pertaining to rocks. Are the rock questions on the TEAS V test? I would be greatly appreciative if someone could answer this question. Thanks

Well there were rock questions on my TEAS that I took in June but it was the version 4 so I would not worry about it as well as the fact that it was only one or two questions so its not like a whole section of questions or anything but I had to laugh when I read this because so many people told me to study stupid rocks before I took the exam too ?

Thanks for the reply; however, I hope someone who took the TEAS V replies. I read through at least 20 post and the "rocks" were everywhere. I would like to spend my study time productively. I would hate to be a "rock" studying rocks. ? Thanks again

I took version 5 in early November, and I don't remember anything about rocks and clouds. Lots of Human A&P questions, scientific reasoning, and chemistry. As far as vocabulary goes, I can't remember anything out of the ordinary. Purchase/borrow the ATI TEAS test V5 study book and study it for a good month before you take the teas. Every vocabulary word you need to know is in there. I studied this book and made an 85. Before studying the book, I took a practice test and made a 65.

Someone in another thread said she had rock questions on the TEAS V so they are still rearing their heads. I kind of hope to see a rock question or two since I took geology last spring.

I took the TEAS V in ca (early November) and there were definitely rock questions on the exam. I had the ATI study guide and just breezed over that section and i wish i would have payed more attention to it. I also believe i had a question or two on clouds. Good Luck with the retake, but make sure to go over that section...

Thank you for telling us! Do you remember what they asked you based on the rock and clouds?

Ummmm....look into rock classification. They have the examples in the TEAS prep book. As for the clouds I can't remember what the questions asked, but I remember it was on there and being like "really they are asking a question about clouds" lol. Look into what's needed to make a metamorphic rock (also found in the TEAS prep book). This whole science section in the TEAS prep book is very helpful, I really wish I would have spent more time studying that little section I probably could have done much better than I did. Hope this helps and good luck again.

P.S. Hope that this is more suitable for the poster below me.

Regardless of how easy or hard or important this test may be to someone...let's not post specific questions or situations (hence that would be cheating).

Hello all--

Thanks for some great advice on studying for the TEAS. I am taking it for the first time tomorrow morning. I am feeling very confident about the reading and math, and pretty good about the science. After looking over the English & language section however, I think I'm definitely feeling the worst about that. I haven't gone over simple sentence structure, conjunctions, etc in YEARS! The ATI study guide I've been using asks random questions about the ozone layer that are not mentioned ANYWHERE else in the book. Okay..

I actually have also noticed some considerable typos in my book, at least. As in obvious no correct answers and multiple answers the EXACT same (discrepancies between the answer options and their 'correct' answer in the back of the book). I have emailed them and described these typos in detail. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed these. Anywhoo, I've found the ATI prep book to be pretty helpful other than that.

Here's to hoping I do well tomorrow..

Oh also, the school I'm applying to only lets you take the test TWICE (at least 30 days apart) in a two year period. So if you do bad your first two tries.. can't apply to nursing school at that institution for another two years. And you have to score a proficient or above in each category. Individual category scores are only used in the event of a tie breaker (as our school selects applicants based on a points basis only..)

I have recently taken the TEAS V exam twice and did not pass and they say I have to wait two years until I could take it again. I am very disappointed and stressed; I'm 21 years old and everyone is telling me not to give up and that I have a long ways to go since I am so young. But I am still wondering what should I do while I wait, I will practically be done with all my pre-reps on the spring of next year and after that I do not know what to do. Can anyone give me any advice of to what to do next?

I've heard the TEAS V is tough! I took the 3rd version and made a 91%. I ordered the study guide from the ATI company and the online practice test. I also searched practice GED tests online and practiced those. I found them to be very similar material. I would really concentrate on the math because it was the longest section. Speed was key on that section. Good luck!!
