Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Waiting on THE letter
yes, i see your point and the point of others that have responded. i re-read what i had posted and really decided it was a bad decision on my part, so i had the administrator delete it. thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Waiting on THE letter
hm, i wondered as well if this was HIPAA violation. isn't there an entire thread on emergency room stories that contain posts with as little information as mine about their 'funniest/most ridiculous' patients? anyways, i'll be more careful.

How much do YOUR scrubs cost?
at Ivy Tech-Bloomington the scrub top, pants, badge, and name plate were $55 total (for 1 set). in our orientation session, they also gave us the scrub brand name/colors/barcode (or whatever it's called) so that we could purchase the exact uniform ourselves elsewhere if we wished.

RN versus LPN
yes. you have to fill out an entire separate application for the LPN program. they do the RN applications first. then the LPN. so if you apply for RN and don't get in, then if you get into LPN you can take that route and then immediately do the bridge to RN when you're done with LPN.

Ivy Tech CertifiedBackground.com/ physical question
i took my confirmation email with me to bloomington ivy tech and that was plenty. our background checks/drug screenings are due august 8 and physical/immunization records are due by august 22nd. does anyone know if your regular physician does the TB screenings? i had one done through work back in february, but have to get 2nd one.

IU Health Intern/Externship
yes, i agree. they do typically tend to hire 'their own', so i think it would be great to get your foot in the door. MOST of the nurse tech/nurse interns end up working as an RN on their unit once they pass boards (i work at another IU Health facility). and our nurse interns generally work the same shift a regular nurse tech would work.. 12 hour shifts, same pay ($9-$10). it might depend on your region you're applying to however.

How much student loan debt and how much is it a month to pay back?
Depends on where you go, how much you take out, etc etc. I am just starting my nursing program at a 2 year college (and not taking out loans), but for my 4 year degree from a large public institution in the midwest, I owe about $23,000 and my monthly fee is set at $248-- with a 10 year payback period (hoping to pay it all off in about half that time though!). I am not paying on my loan now since I am in school again. My loan amount would actually be lower, except I took out extra one year to pay my rent in an apartment.

ASN to BSN with another BS degree?
Thanks for all the info! I was thinking there would be "bridge classes". I think I was mainly wondering if I would have to receive the BSN before MSN, but from what everyone has said, the bridge classes plus my other degrees would help eliminate applying for two separate programs.

ASN to BSN with another BS degree?
If I have a BS and an ASN and want to also get a BSN, would it even require many additional courses since I have the general ed courses from my first BS already? If I wanted to go into an MSN program, would my BS and ASN count together as a "BSN"? I can't really find the info on this that I am looking for, so I thought that I would turn to these boards. Anyone else done this?

Ivy Tech: Accepted for Fall 2011
Yes, I received my letter from Bloomington on May 24th. I couldn't believe how fast they were. It really took some weight off my shoulders. I also applied to Terre Haute, but haven't received a letter. It's not a big deal though as Bloomington was where I wanted, since I live there. Good luck!

Ivy Tech: Accepted for Fall 2011
I received my Bloomington PN acceptance letter about 2 1/2 weeks ago!! I am very excited and also nervous about starting the program! I plan on transitioning to RN immediately after completing the PN. I currently work full time at the hospital but plan on switching to part time (although I'm not sure how long I will last with tons of studying + trying to work + taking care of a toddler). My letter did not say a single thing about taking a CPR class, getting up to date on immunizations, etc. My job at the hospital already has me certified in CPR through Red Cross, thankfully. Our meeting for the program is not until JULY 15!! Soo long to wait it feels like for any more information! Any other Bloomington students here?!

Ivy Tech: Accepted for Fall 2011
I am currently working full time at the hospital, but am planning on moving to part time once nursing starts. I'm really nervous about trying to manage a full time nursing program with part time work and a two year old. So, we'll see how long the work lasts. I also am not eligible for any grants because of a previous degree. I am not taking out any more loans, I hope, as I still owe almost all of my ones from my previous degree (I graduated a year ago). My parents will be covering my tuition for the first semester, but after reading some other posts in this thread, there are a lot of other out of pocket expenses. Sigh..

Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Prospective Nursing Students
I never took TEAS IV, but I agree! TEAS V was extremely hard. I scored a 73% my first time, and then only an 82% on my second. I studied for two months from the ATI testing book! My score was good enough to get into my program, but still! Very hard.. don't underestimate!

Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Waiting on THE letter
I received my acceptance letter a couple of days ago to the Bloomington PN program. I only applied to PN because I wasn't able to take the darn MATH136 last semester in order to apply for RN as well. I plan on doing the transition to RN immediately after. Congrats to all, and good luck to all those still waiting! :)
