  1. Hi TGrider853... It would make sense, but my understanding is that's now how it works. :) Basically, you're kinda stuck with the person who takes you to the prom...even if someone else comes along. I believe you can apply to both and then chose, but you're not automatically moved into the LPN stack if RN doesn't work out. At least, that's my understanding. And I'm not an expert by ANY stretch... Hate to say this....but, your advisor/dean would have a better understanding of the specifics. No matter what happens, though, don't give up and try again! Math hit me hard, too. Of all the math classes we had to take...135 and everything, we didn't cover MIXED FRACTIONS! There were a bunch of them on my test...and I was just guessing. I could do stupid Quadratic formulas and mortgage loans...but, not mixed fractions. Made it into the program though...but, WAY too close for comfort.
  2. First...contratulations! They says that a LOT at orientation, so I'm sorry you missed that part. Ok, I can only speak of the Anderson Campus....but, it sounds pretty similar on your tests. For us...the background/drug test is due by August 5th. Most of the Medical stuff is due by September 15th...except the 3rd Hep. shot which is 6-months after the first one. They also made it VERY clear that school had to be paid by August 15th. On the drug test. Go back to your account with the CP. At the very bottom there will be several boxes. One is background, one is drug, and several others. Click the "+" sign next to drug...and that opens a window. I believe it says you can print the paper you need for the test. That's where I found mine. On the vaccinations. I have been scanning them into CP as I go. Made a mistake or two...and it was rejected. So, I corrected it...and scanned them in again. My two mistakes: I didn't have the front AND back of my CPR card on the same page...and you can only scan one page. The other mistake was the TB. They want it when BOTH tests are complete, not in progress. Talk to the folks who are collecting the information at the school...they can help. It will be ok. I'm scared too, that after all this work that I'll drop something. Remember, though, God put us on this journey and isn't going to abandon us now! :redbeathe
  3. KPage...I never did see the PM. It's usually not my style to ignore someone, unless it's a telemarketer at 2am. Wow. I'm sitting here stunned about how things turned out. Amazing. REALLY wish I'd seen your message about the open slots. It would have helped eliminate many sleepless nights! I'm positive your decision made the difference in moving me up the list into the program! I'd heard through the grapevine that my alternate number was fairly high, which really had me concerned. No doubt at ALL that your decision to go to Lawrence made a difference in my placement. :redbeathe It sounds like an acceptance speech, but I'm thrilled to be going to Anderson campus. I like the folks there and am comfortable with their routine. However, I would have been happy with Lawrence too....for different reasons. Their use of simulators this coming year sounds truly amazing! KPage it sounds like you're going to really have fun down there..... KPage, again many thanks for being so thoughtful in your decision for chosing a school. When Octavia called I nearly drove off the road. Never take good/bad news while driving on the interstate! It sounds like a great win for all of us. I was talking with my friend who just finished his first year. Wow. What we will know this time next year....amazing.
  4. Faypha....THAT'S GREAT news!!! Can't believe after all this time and all the posting, we're going to be in the same program! I'm SO happy for you. Wow! Oh, at the orientation meeting say "hi." I'll be the guy with rugged good looks, chiseled features, flowing dark hair.....ok, how about the 40ish married guy who needs to work out more and looks scared to death! THAT will be me! Hopeful-One...thanks for the congrats. It STILL seems like a dream...
  5. GOT the CALL....I'm in the ASN program for East-Central Region!!! :clpty::clpty::clpty::clpty: Can't tell you how long I've wanted to use the "party people" button! I don't know if it's Anderson or Muncie, but I feel so blessed today! Meeting with friends again next week who just finished the first year....and the orientation meeting is on the 8th. Faypha...I'm still pulling for you. I'll keep a prayer you can push the "party people" button soon!
  6. Faypha....I've not checked the message boards in a week. It's odd....when I was waiting, I checked 3x a day. Finally had "board burn-out." :) Well, I never did hear from Indy after their rejection letter. Kokomo sent a rejection, then called last week. Said I was IN their program! However, after a lot of thought...and even more prayers...I turned it down. Hard to believe, eh? I didn't completely think out the cost/time of driving when I applied to Kokomo. (about 75 minutes one way) I'm still on the East-Central Alternate list...depending on the campus, all within 1/2 to 3/4 hours from the house. If East-Central works out, then I'm in. (I still have a funny feeling it will work out.) If not, well I'll take the promotion at work (they know about school and are waiting, too), study the heck out of the TEAS materials, and reapply/take Microbiology in the spring. I've been galloping along, and honestly, it's kinda nice to not have classes this summer... My wife told me something the other night that is worth sharing. She said, "no matter what happens...school has restored your confidence in yourself." She's right. You can't have rocks in your head and get the grades we've all had to attain. It's a good feeling....that alone was worth the ride. Well, almost...
  7. Faypha...sorry about the delayed response. I just don't check the message boards as much now.... Got denied in both Indy and Lafayette with a 165. Alternate for Anderson, which is really where I want to go. It's 15 minutes from the house. I have to say, the folks at the Anderson campus have been extremely nice and supportive. It was SO tempting to call or stop by. When I did 'just happen to be in the neighborhood' the folks at the desk were always very nice. I have the 4-A's and will probably retake the TEAS, but honestly, I'm not in a huge hurry. After working all the time and classes it's nice to have a bit of a summer. I'm taking the CPR class, just for 'fun' and if I'm called for this fall it's one less thing to worry about. My parents have a 'sampler' on the wall that I've looked at since I was a kid. "Happiness isn't getting what you want....it's wanting what you have." God has been so good to me. It will all be 'ok." :)
  8. Well....got the word today there are 15 alternate slots from East Central Region. They got slammed with folks from Indy applying. I'm on the 'alternate list,' but fairly low. Hope they take a LOT of alternates this year.....
  9. Faypha...amazing! I'm so happy for you on Lafayette! Several good friends have said 'don't worry about being an 'alternate.' They were alternates and it worked out fine. The big meeting is July 8th. I'll hopefully know something by then... Limbo lower now....
  10. Faypha....you have a nice way of knocking someone over the head. You're right. I hit a 165.1 and that might just do it. Too close for comfort, though. Read on one of the message boards there might be 15 alternates for East Central Region. The lowest score I could find for Indy was 167.3, so I was close to that one at 165. It's just so weird. I thought "at least I'll know this week....good or bad, put the toys away or get them out." Now, it "Limbo time.... I truly am sorry you're not on the list, though. A good friend of mine had a 160 and had heard she was going to get in...and not to worry. Of course, this was in early March before all the scores were in. I feel bad for her, today. I truly believe God has a plan for our lives. When a friend of mine was struggling in class last year I said, "you know, I don't know if God has plans for me to be an RN...maybe, His plan is for me to help you be one..." I still believe that. We all make differences in peoples lives every day. It's up to us to determine if we are helping or hurting.
  11. Faypha...I'm SO sorry about your third denial. After all these months I feel like all of us would have gotten along well in school. This is the first chance I've had to get to a computer. And I got to tell ya, my stomach is STILL in knots. Got the big envelope, said a prayer, and opened it. Started off with a "pleased to inform" which looked good...then read "ALTERNATE" in big letters. So, now what? Manditory meeting on July 8th, but who knows if it's a waste of time. Will they call the day before classes start? It's not fair to my current employer to lead them on like this... In a way it would be nicer to have a yes/no. Somehow, I got a maybe...
  12. Yup, Faypha....might as well enjoy the weekend. So much for "on or before May 30th." Next time a research paper is due think I'll use the "on or before" excuse...then sent it after that date. Ok, probably not!:) Have a great Memorial Day everyone....and remember to thank a vet.
  13. For those waiting on East Central....no letter today. Got a motorcycle magazine, a bill, request for donations, and flyer for something. The one letter I want didn't come... "The letter will come tomorrow, tomorrow...bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow...they'll be a letter.." -Annie 1982. (Not bad for a 6'2" married guy)
  14. Well, the good news...got the Indy letter today. Strike 2. Didn't get in. It's up to Anderson, which was my first choice anyway. Good luck today!
  15. I like the "tradition" of sending actual letters, but come on...it's not 1950. This is one of the things Ivy Tech should consider adjusting in the future. Just a thought....as I sit by the mailbox for another day. "Hey, you kids get out of my yard!"
