PTSA president made sure to come by and tell me I should go to the teachers' taco bar during the teacher appreciation week (which happened this week because standardized testing is next week).
Like I WOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT anyway....
But I thought it was a nice acknowledgement. I have actually quit grousing about nurses' week (and School Nurses' Day). Three years ago I sent the state proclamation to our PR office and we actually got coverage in our district propaganda. I was thinking I could teach the PR people how to fish...but no, they didn't run it the next year or last year.
Someone always does something nice for me during the week. Usually another teacher, sometimes a parent. Never my own director, who's a nurse...
I am fortunate that my school very much has an "It takes a village" attitude, so ALL staff are included in Teacher Appreciation Week, including our custodial staff who are employed by an outside company.
I personally am planning on getting something nice for t he school nurse at my own kids' school because my 12 year-old is a total FF and she has been a lovely resource for me with school nurse policy questions as well :)

i have a couple of parents that are also school nurses. They are the best.
Yesterday I had a parent thank me and offer to get something I needed for my office! It was so lovely and unexpected that it made my day really.
I know the feeling! I've been posting all over Facebook about it being National Nurses' Week, and that National School Nurses' Day is May 9th.
Me too, and our association will be sending a letter to Admin and Principals, encouraging them to remember the school nurse on their day...lets see what happens...

I love teachers. Many of my friends are teachers.
I'm sick of hearing about all of the wonderful activities that we will do for Teacher Appreciation week. Someone even made a joke at the last staff meeting about "having to share the treats with the social workers, office staff and nurse." Um, it's my week, too. Ugh. Sorry, just had to vent.
