I have been doing TONS of research on all of this. I hear a lot of negative about TCN & RUE, but what I want to know is if anyone has had any sucess with these publishing companies & graduated using them. Graduates from excelsior & IU. I know they cost a lot, I know they are not directly affiliated with these colleges, I know they are not colleges but merely publishing companies...but I want to know if anyone used them, liked them, is now a Registered Nurse thanks to them. Just curiosity.......

There are no TCN and Rue graduates because TCN and Rue are not schools.
pardon my typo...let me clarify..excelsior graduates who used TCN or RUE. although I do believe that I clearly stated I know that TCN and RUE are not schools but only publishing companies and have no real affiliation with the college....geez!

I'm sure there are plenty of people who have graduated from EC or ISU using RUE or TCN -- but I think the more important question is, did those people really need to pay the outrageous amounts of $$$ to those publishing companies, or would they have done just as well at EC or ISU on their own, or using TCN or RUE study materials purchased elsewhere for less?
If the TCN or RUE study materials really interest you, people comment here all the time that you can purchase them used on ebay for a fraction of the original cost.
Has your "TONS of research" including reviewing the many threads here about TCN and RUE? If not, I encourage you to review them -- lots of worthwhile discussion and people's personal experiences there.
Best wishes. :balloons:

Yes I have been reading those threads...that's why I was wondering if anyone had any positive experinces with them...you don't find many of those and I was only curious...
Does that not tell you enough, right there?
Best wishes for your journey, in any case. :)

I'm just curious if anyone has had sucess with them. I know someone who just enrolled with RUE...I myself almost did until I researched it more.

I guess it all depends on your financial situation. For me I wanted to get done as fast as I could, but didn't have money up front to pay for textbooks and the tests. I had all my prereq's done years ago. So It was just the nursing classes I needed. So in my contract with TCN I got the modules and the tests financed (they also don't do a credit cheak or I never would have been financed). I pay $125.00 a month (for 5 years). alot of money. I took tests every 3-4 weeks. I just passed my CPNE on dec 4th got everything done in 11 months. If your not planning to go that fast. You can split the exam fee through excelsior into 2 payments 0f 120.00 a month, I think. It's definitly cheaper just to go through excelsior and you can buy college network books on ebay for a lot cheaper. For me it worked because of my finances and now I'll be getting more money so I can pay my loan back. If you do go with TCN don't let them talk you into the nclex module its expensive it's nothing you won't find on the internet for free.

don't sign up with them. why spend thousands of $$ when you don't have to?
i have used studygroup101 (10 bucks each) and saunders comprehensive nclex-rn (50 bucks?) and no recommended books and i have been passing with 2-3 weeks of studying.
why don't you try doing the same and if you are not successful then try the recommended books and or rue or tcn?
lastly, make sure to pay for the practice exams. they're awesome!
good luck!

To answer your question! I have used TCN for my excelsior journey. I do not know the price difference, but I have enjoyed using them. It might cost less/more, it might not. But the advantages are they finance it all for you, testing fees, tuition and books. I never had to look for books or wonder where I was going to come up with the money to take a test, which allowed me to get done faster. You can pm me if you want and I can answer any specific questions. I have done it all through TCN, just waiting to take cpne in Jan. Hope this helps! Everyone has their own journey!

I guarantee you are paying thousands more. Thousands. Definitely. These publishing companies are doing nothing but making a buck (many, in fact) off of a person's desire to obtain higher education, and it makes me angry to see companies take advantage of people like that.
