Tattoos in Nursing

What do you think about Nurses with tattoos?

Do you have tattoos?

Should tattoos be shown during work as a Nurse?

There is no right or wrong answers. Thank you.

Bless your heart.

Well, you got to call me a crusty old bat and it was not deleted. How does that work? Strong people build each other up rather than tearing each other down. Obviously you have some grudge or chip on your shoulder. I prefer not to get caught up in that, but I am offended at your name-calling and disrespectful behaviour towards me. I consider myself a strong person. I will not tear you down as you did to me, but rather express my sympathy for you instead. Hoping you find strength of character.

Please familiarize yourself with some of the features of AN. That is my signature and was not directed at you or anyone else in this thread. There is an interesting story to the crusty old bat insult that was thrown at some older nurses that we have since turned into a badge of honor.

NOW you've done it.

Thank you Rose Queen, for clarifying that calling me an old bat was meant as a compliment not an insult. The way I see it, this whole tattoo debate is what is wrong with the nursing profession today. There is a focus on the superficial not on the skin deep, real issues such as patient safety and collegial respect. There is so much bullying and disrespect from the public to nurses and between nurses. This is apparent in some of the comments on this thread. The time we spend focusing on the superficial takes away from time we need to spend on the deeper, more meaningful issues.

As expected, I am derided for having a differing opinion. If I had said the poster was wearing an unattractive dress would you have felt similarly justified in attacking MY CHARACTER???

No, you're derided for being rude.

Dear Rose Queen, It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out my responses and comments. But thanks for the lecture, Professor. You must be a professor as well as a rose queen.

Dude. Just use the quote button. It's not rocket science.

I am not a dude. And I am replying to all the comments at once. So I don't need to use the Quote button. This has now become a thread about nurse-to-nurse violence. I am out of here.

Interesting I go to a nurse website and get called a crusty old bat and a dude and someone writes a statement about fishes in memberes. Strange, very strange.

What do you think about Nurses with tattoos? More common than we think.

Do you have tattoos? No.

Should tattoos be shown during work as a Nurse? I don't think they should be made a big deal of. However, I don't think anything that is rude/gang/jail/obscene should be shown.

Oh brother! Why is this even a question? Nurse is not synonymous with saint. If you have a beautifully done tattoo that is colorful and artistic, who cares? You should display it proudly.

Do you know any gangster nurses?

And you would be right.
