Oh, and I live in Arlington but I work off of 820/35 Fossil Creek so I was hoping to get a downtown hospital or NHH.

i have a question for you guys though. i bought the package of books, which i picked up a week ago or so. i am currently in the process of getting some reference books on amazon, but then i noticed a book from the list that i'm missing. it's the first one...'fundamentals of nursing concepts, process and practice.' did you guys get that in your package or is that something we get later?
no, the fundamentals book does not come in the packaged deal, it has to be purchased separately"
thats what i found on the package but i couldnt find the post about the price.. i think about 300$
***edit- its at majorsbooks.com, but the package for our class is not out yet!

that's it! i calculated $335 from the email today, if you purchased the cpr book and the tnsa membership, so add another $85 for a steth, plus probably about $450 for all of the books . . . sheesh. i can't believe they can't advance some of the fa money for something like this.
dont forget about 440$ for tuition...

where are you getting your steth from? I ordered mine from medisave for $71.00
*edit- foundations book with online code is about $135
Yeah, but at least with tuition they will hold our spots until it drops on Jan 7th so I'm not as worried about that. That's one good thing. :-)
I'm going to order mine from Medisave as well. The Littmann Classic II SE in Rainbow was $84.99 when I looked earlier tonight. Oh but I forgot to put in the faceb11 code so take 5% off that.

Is there a certain criteria the school asks us to use when selecting a stethoscope? I don't see any specifics anywhere.
not that i know of, it's our own preference.
does anyone know what the "Elsevier Package" is?

Is there a reason why you guys are paying so much money for the stethoscope? I already own one (cheap) that I was planning on using... Is there something I need to know about it?
I guess it just depends on the brand you bought, i think most of us are buying Littman stethoscopes.
I figured since im going to be using it for the next 2 years (maybe even after that) that i might as well not skimp on it.
As long as it works for you, i dont the think price matters.
I was thinking the same thing, Rossy. I don't want to go bottom of the barrel, but I don't see the point in paying $100 either. Surely $40 will get us a perfectly good steth.
Littmann appears to be the gold standard in stethoscopes.....looks like they've got the market pretty well cornered!
