Published

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

I dont think they would mind, but what if you plan to use it after nursing school? lol

Eh, by that point I should have money to buy a new one I hope! LOL :nurse:

I got mine engraved for free as well... After paying so much for it I hope to keep using it after school so I didn't include "sn" in it, got some hearts n music notes :)

@doodlebug jen You may want to buy all the books that they are asking you for your Fundamentals semester. You will use them all throughout the program. I just finished my 1st semester and I used all the books and we are going to keep using Lilley and Kozier for the 2nd semester.

Maybe you have heard this before but it doesn't hurt to hear it again. Read, read, read. Never get behind on your reading because it will be very hard to catch up. Take your studying time serious. It will definitely show on your tests. Get used to think critically. Make yourself a favor and buy a NCLEX book when you can and study with it so you can get familiar with the type questions.

I heard all these before I started and I thought I was going to be fine with the bare minimum, after my first test I hit reality pretty fast.

Good luck to everybody. Be serious and have fun.

@Venus, when you say "buy all the books they are asking" would that be the recommended too? I just bought the require ones, and since I don't get FA I didn't want to buy the recommended books. Thx

You don't need all the recommended books.

You should get:

-drug book

-nursing care plan (very helpful, if you can get a couple even better, tabers is online through TCC, they will tell you how to get access to it if they haven't told you yet)

-Fundamentals Success (will help you on your tests)

-all the required books.

Make plenty of copies of your care plans that you will find in your clinical cid. You will use one or two a week depending on the professor (15 weeks).

That really helps, thank you Venus!

@venus- awesome, thanks for the info!@cross- LOL.The rest of my books came today so I will be reading up! For those of you who.have emailed in your documents for your file, did they send you any sort of confirmation email or anything? Also when I went on to WA, it said I couldn't register for classes cause They have no record of my meningitis vaccination? Anyone else have that show up?

I haven't seen that about menigitis. I'd just call them though and find out what you would have to do.

The stuff I ordered this morning from Medisave has already shipped! I am impressed. Now just can't wait for the books!!

Cross- when I ordered from medisave I actually got my package a day earlier than estimated, so keep an eye out for it, AND they require someone there to accept the package, They wont leave it at your door, you'll have to pick it up at the post office.I think I'm going to order more scrubs, and look around for another pair of shoes. I've heard good things about the Landau comfort clogs.. :) lol.

@rossy- I bought my reference books online and got a really good deal. I found my fundamentals for success book was only $9!

I bought all of my books used to save some money but they are all in fantastic shape and condition. No marks, writing, folded pages, nothing. Basically brand new with a "used" sticker on it.

Well I am just about done with jotting down assignments and stuff in my planner, and all I can say is that we are in for one HECK of a ride.

Okay, I'm still confused on the Picture ID we're supposed to have. I don't see anything in my notes from orientation on it. The nice lady at the business services office was adamant that if we already have a normal TCCD student ID we would not have to have another one made. Anyone know for sure?
