Hello,
I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.
I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.
I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.
I feel like we can all be a support system to one another ( if we eventually meet face to face, if our schedules cross paths and such). I have a little girl, a husband and will be working as well. At least I know that I am not alone taking on nursing school with all of that in tow. It will be a challenge for all of us,but we can do it!!
DREAMER: hmmm lets see. the program is so far so good. received two a's and one b last semester, and right now i am in psych. foundations is hard bc you feel like a lost soul, but i found a girl and we have become best friends and have gotten through everything together! Its very do able, but only if you put in 100 %. which i am sure you will bc if you fail youll have to apply again. they scare you when you first start, but its do able. I had kindred southwest and the clinical instructor is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! i am in psych now and i want to scream, but hey, what would nursing school be like if you arent stressed!=) haha, and btw i am 20, so if i can do it, alot of you can because im sure yall will have alot more experience of handling time then I, plus i work four nights at my restaurant, and still am fine!=) good luck all! get a good computer and calendar/ planner! and i wouldnt read and all that personally..enjoy your time off, youll do plenty later. I didnt read at all before starting and did just fine.. ps, i never used my skills text, the drug book is all on tcc library website(thatll save you forty dollars) and i didnt use the swearenger( or however you spell it) and i didnt use the calculations book- but if your not good in math then def know that. and know conversions(mL-L, tsp- mL..ect) get farmiliar with the CID, itll save your life! maybe if you want to read, there are objectives, put that on the front of the note card and the answer to the objective on the back, test questions come from those and the tables and pictures and graphs from the texts. =) have fun! its a very interesting ride of your LIFE!
I fully plan on enjoying nursing school. It will be a fun challenge, and over before we know it. I am fortunate that my children are not babies. They will be 16 and 11 this year. I am just hoping that I can juggle work and school. I am a department manager at a hospital and have a lot of responsibility on that front. I will have to live by my planner, and learn to function on very little sleep. On that note, I am still so excited to get started.
We really need to at least set up lunch one day before orientation. We can set up a time and day and who ever decides they want to go can just show up.
I will not be working throughout NS, I haven't since my youngest was born. But I will have to juggle their little lives, Hubby, house. My kids are 6 and 3 and although not completely grown yet, they are fully potty trained . My six year old is self sufficient for the most part and helps lil Sis. Hubby will take over all homework for her. I guess I'm just going to have to figure it all out
I haven't posted that much through out this time but I have been following everyone. I love the idea of meeting up before for lunch. I think it would put us a little at ease on the first day if there are some familiar faces. I will not be working during school but do have lots of kids and a husband that could count as another kid! I got my schedule and looks like I will be @
N Hills 1-7 M/W for clinicals
Skills 9-12 on Tues
Theory T/TH 215-405 (hybrid)
Do we know where a general central location would be for everyone? I am in Keller/N Ft Worth area.

We will have clinicals together! :) *I must say, it really does seem like the Nursing Department did a great job of trying to place everyone at clinical sites close to their home. I applaud them for this.*
And I'm right on the border of Watauga/Keller.
Anotherhopeful- I have clinical at kindred fort worth too!! But on T/THI have:
clinical (kindred ft worth)- T/TH 7am-1pm
theory- M/W 2:15-4:05pm
skills- W 9am-noon
anyone have anything with me?! I am excited!!
I know have all my stuff turned in and nurse pack/CPR paid for! I did totally forget to pay fo the drug screening so I'll have to do that but I'm excited I got it done cause now July is all mine! :)
lmd, I have this schedule, too, but I put my name on the board to trade for any of 6 other schedules that have a.m. clinicals AND a.m. theory. I doubt I will get a call from anyone, though, especially the best ones for me (50710 or 50707 or 50704).
Anyone know anything about this hospital?
There's Riscky's, Uno's, Flying Saucer... is that Cabo place still there? Mi Cocina has a nice outdoor area, but it's further south of TRC and a little more upscale. I've seen some newish places I can't remember. Anywhere else? The hospital district has some unique places. Anybody know some popular ones? There's a Gloria's on 7th St. (Montgomery Plaza)-great ceviche tostadas and killer margaritas. Cowtown - Joe T's - more good margaritas by the pool.I'm in Ft. Worth/Saginaw area. Anything close to the campus might be a good idea unless someone else has some other suggestions.

Ditto, except replace kids with husband and furbabies. I'm not really sure how successful I'll be at working full time while going to school... there really needs to be like 36 hours in a day, or I need to learn to function on about 4 hours of sleep. LOL!
I do know this though, the moment my grades start suffering is the moment we look at other options. I will not sacrifice what I have worked so hard to acheive.
