Hello to everyone! I'm brand new to this site, but already finding lots of great information. Are any of you familiar with or applying to Tarrant County College ASN program? I'm in the dreaded wait until the first part of May. I took my TEAS exam last weekend and did really well so I'm hoping for the best! I look forward to getting to know each of you better.
Hey Katy....I read someone's post who said she got a big brown envelope from TCC in the mail when she was accepted. Do you know if there is any difference in the envelopes they send out in the acceptance letters ? I've told my family that I'm going to be so afraid to open that letter. So, if the color of the envelope is special on those who are accepted, then that may make it easier.....Mom to 2, I'm being OCD over all of this too !!!! That would be just awesome if you could find out when they are planning on sending the letters out. I know their website says the candidates are notified in May, that's all.
Yes, the acceptance letters come as a packet in a big brown envelope and the other letters come in a regular envelope with the TCC logo on it. Now, keep in mind, the letters for people who are alternates also come in the regular envelopes. The fall semester alternates almost always all get in. But I'm sure ya'll will get packets!! Another day down!! :)
And tomorrow will be April! Of course then we have another entire MONTH! :)
On another note - if I do get in, would it be reasonable to arrange child care for three days a week? Any idea on what hours I would actually need to have someone for? I know I'm jumping the gun here, just wanting to have a plan of action in mind should I need to use it.
First semester you are definitely in for four days a week. You've got theory two days a week, clinical two days a week, and skills lab once a week, usually on a theory day. Class times really vary. My schedule last semester was M-W clinical 1-7p.m., theory tues-thurs-2:30-4:30 on tues from 9:30 to 12:30. There are morning theory classes and morning clinicals as well, I don't know about the theory schedule but the clinicals are from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. I hope this helps.
Everybody's schedule is predetermined by the department. Your clinical site is assigned according to your zip code and the rest is determined from what clinical you end up in. What they do is set it all up and give you the section numbers that you are to register for. You can trade with somebody but it's hard first semester unless you know some people who are starting with you. We were able to have a little more control over our schedules second semester.
So they probably would not schedule me for theory on the same day. Hmmm....well, I'm sure that it will all work out the way that it is supposed to. Again - way jumping the gun, but if I get in I would really like to do clinicals at Harris HEB. I've heard that is one of the hospitals they work with.
Another day down, and HELLO to April! : )

Hehehe, no, no OCD at all!!! LOL!! I know, the process stinks. You feel like your whole life is on hold until you get an answer. I applied three times but the first time I shouldn't have bothered because I still had some stuff to finish up, the second time I had a "C" in chemistry and the third time was a charm for me. I honestly dont' see you having that problem. I believed all along that I would get in when the time was right. Had I gotten in last spring, it would have been a real problem because my husband was recovering from an accident at work and needed me here at home. I'm so thankful that I didn't get in the second time I applied. So far, everything has gone smoothly. It was just time, I guess. Your time is coming!! Keep your chin up!!
