Hello to everyone! I'm brand new to this site, but already finding lots of great information. Are any of you familiar with or applying to Tarrant County College ASN program? I'm in the dreaded wait until the first part of May. I took my TEAS exam last weekend and did really well so I'm hoping for the best! I look forward to getting to know each of you better.
It's been awhile since I took micro so I'm having a hard time remembering specifics but, I can tell you that he offers extra credit and it's a good idea to try and do it. He has a tendancy to help folks with .5 of a point after finals if they've done some extra credit, otherwise he won't round it. They always tend to do things a little differently in the summer though due to the time constraints. You will learn so much in his class. He's like a walking text book. I'm sorry I can't give you more to go on. I'm sure you'll do great though!!
I've applied at TCC nursing for the Fall 06' semester. Waiting till May is horrible, it's going by sooo slow ! I feel like my life is on hold until I find out. I was told by the secretary that there were 390 applicants for the Fall 06' semester. I was wondering how I compare with others in the applicant pool. I've got A's in all my sciences (including chemistry) expect got a B in one other science class. I've also got A's in other basic classes. I was a little disappointed with my Teas exam and scored in the 80's.
Most nursing students that I have spoken with were in the 90th percentile on their Teas score. This is the only thing that has me worried. How did you all do on your Teas score ?
Glad tok now that there is someone else out there going insane along wth me! :)
I actually did pretty well on the TEAS. I believe my score was a 92, and my report ranked me in the 99th percentile. BUT - I'm still missing micro. I'm gong to be taking it over summer 1. I have A's in everything else, so that is the one and only thing that I could think of that would keep me from getting in.
The waiting really is horrible though. I'm glad to know the scoop on the number of applicants though. Did you get any other good dirt?? LOL
I'm in my second semester at TCC. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. I remember what it's like to wait for the news to come in the mail. TCC has a fantastic program. Hang in there, May will be here before you know it!!!Katy
How well did you do on your Teas exam. I was just wondering what the standard score is for acceptance.
Hey momto2beauties.....I don't that you have anything to worry about. I think you'll get in for sure, especially with that Teas score. I knew someone last semester that was in my A&P class that was accepted before she was through with her sciences. I would bet that you'll be accepted.....
You girls hang in there!!! It's already April...well, almost. I know the wait is driving you nuts!! I'll pop my head in the office on Monday and see if I can get the scoop on when the letters might go out. It won't be long now!! The countdown continues!! I sooo have my fingers crossed for ya'll. Just take a deep breath and relax.
I don't remember exactly what I made on the TEAS. I want to say it I fell between the 78th and 82nd percentile. They really don't look at the overall score as much as they look at each section. Science is weighed the heaviest (which I scored in the 98th percentile), then math (which was ok but not so great for me, don't remember the percentile though), then the English and Reading part. Believe it or not 390 is less than when I applied the last time. We had like 450/480 apply for last fall. The competition is a killer but don't give up!! Hang in there!!
Love,
Katy
Hey, maybe they will decide that the first part of April would be a better time to send out the letters! LOL
I think the hardest part is knowing how badly I want this - you know what I mean? I spent my first college experience not having a real clue what I wanted to do and going through three different majors. Now I know and it's so close but I have little control over the actual process.
Katy, if you get any info about those letters, you would be a friend for life! I don't have OCD about this or anything! LOL
