Hello to everyone! I'm brand new to this site, but already finding lots of great information. Are any of you familiar with or applying to Tarrant County College ASN program? I'm in the dreaded wait until the first part of May. I took my TEAS exam last weekend and did really well so I'm hoping for the best! I look forward to getting to know each of you better.
No, they aren't special order. As long as you get the right colors and put the school patches on the sleeves, you are free to get them wherever you like. Some people get them at wal mart, scrubs etc., dorothy's, and that place at Grapevine Mills Mall. I got my shoes at the shop at Grapevine Mills. I sooooo hope you'll be shopping soon!!! :)
Hi I wiil be graduating from TCC in DEc06 Yay for me. If you get the big brown envelope you are in. GO to six flags mall Scrub city uniforms tops are $5 and $9 for pants. Be prepared to work your butt off but it is worth it. Buy comfortable shoes. If you can afford it invest in a PDA it is great to download books on to so you do not have to carry them with you. As for the extra classes I felt they were a waste of money. the math was not that hard and the instructors will tutor you. As for books iof know someone inthe semster a head of you see if they will loan you the books they used saves a ton a money. GOOD LUCK
Wow, I love all these great tips! I"m so completely excited at the prospect of possibly being there this fall. It's just driving me crazy to have to wait this long. I just need to plan my life one way or the other! : )
I really am looking forward to taking micro this summer - I'm crazy, I know!
52 days and counting (or something like that)....

Congratualations to you!!
Thanks for the idea about the PDA. I actually already have one so that should be great! How do you download your books? Is that something that you can purchase from the publishers web site?
I know it's hard to predict if I will get in since I am missing micro, but then there is the fact that I have every other class and then some, my science GPA is 4.0, and I had a very strong TEAS score. Ugh....this is killing me. At least you guys are here to keep me company! : )
Did they mention if the applicant pool was really large? It has been for the last few years. I was just wondering if it might start to taper off.
Forgot to answer this one -
I think that they said that there were about 395 applicants last sesmster for 100 spots. They did say that the semester before (Fall of 05) there had been slightly fewer like 380 or so.
REGARDING THE PDA You can purchase the books to to use the book store carries a few. Where are you taking your prerecs. Since you still need micro and you are taking it as summer class try southeast campus Dr. Perryman. Tough but I learned alot. It sounds like you will get into the program with 4.0 and good tease scores.
I've taken almost all of my prerecs at TCC. I did take a few classes at a 4 year university during my first "college experience" that will transfer in for me.
I'm just afraid that not having micro yet is going to bump me out. During orientation we were told that only two people got into the program last semester that were missing a science. Obviously, they have no way of knowing that I'm taking the course over the summer and will have the credit before the fall starts.
Thanks for the professor tip. I actually live fairly close to NE campus so it looks like I'll be taking it with Matthai. Makes me a little nervous, but how long can five weeks last?? : )
You will love him!! He is a hoot!! He thinks he's really funny. Don't be surprised when you walk into lecture and he has a HUGE slide of the male anatomy on the screen with gigantic sores on it. He thinks that's really funny. You will enjoy his class. Let me know if you want to know anything about any other instructors at NE. I took all of my prereq's there.
Thanks! This is actually the last prerec that I need except for the one hour PE class. I'm even done with all the UTA general education classes except for sociology. I guess I'll be taking those two in the fall if I don't get in to the nursing program. Either way I'm going to take micro over the summer and get it over with.
Any tips for surviving the class?

Blue? HAHAHAHAHA!! I wish we were so lucky!! No, TCC has the lovely white top with teal pants uniform. UGH!! Not a campus favorite I can assure you. But, I guess we're happy to be wearing a uniform at all. LOL!! As far as shoes goes, they have to be completely white. You can get whatever kind you like wheather it be an actual nursing shoe or tennis shoes but you cannot wear clogs with an open back. I guess they're afraid we'll fall on our faces...hehehehehe. And, btw...this IS the important stuff!! LOL!!
