Tarrant County College?

Published

Hello to everyone! I'm brand new to this site, but already finding lots of great information. Are any of you familiar with or applying to Tarrant County College ASN program? I'm in the dreaded wait until the first part of May. I took my TEAS exam last weekend and did really well so I'm hoping for the best! I look forward to getting to know each of you better.

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

How hard was it to transfer from ECC to TCC?

Specializes in Emergency and ICU.

Nice to see nursing students already looking for the easier patients and not the learning experience. You learn from the students. Thanks and good to hear. Like the reality checks because I have to work with them.

Specializes in ICU, ER, HH, NICU, now FNP.

oh good lord - people transfer for a LOT of reasons!!! These people were not looking for easier programs, just programs that worked into their lives easier!!!

ETA - perhaps there needs to be a forum for the persistently negative people around here to post their persistently negative droppings in so the rest of us don't have to be subjected to it constantly.

Specializes in Emergency and ICU.

Wish you the best. I am a ECC 1984 grad and what you said has not changed. I had a very limited OB experience. You have some real insight and critical thinking skills. Here was my survival trick for passing boards and national certification tests. I got 4 NCLEX test prep books that gave me about 1,200 test questions. I copied to questions and just studied the answers. The authors of these books are part of the pool that writes the board question. I got the feel of how questions are worded and what the meat of the answer. I practice test taking online as much as I can.

I am glad that you are taking care of you and please never forget that in the rest of your nursing career. Look forward to seeing you graduate. Please keep informed.

I transfered from TWU to ECC for a better education than a diploma mill. I got smaller classes and better instructors. Yes it was easier to work a full time job and got to school with people of various backgrounds and ages.

I was not "TWU graduates the best nursing supervisors in the state of Texas" which was announced in general orientation in August 1984 kind of nurse. I won't do charge nurse either now.

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

I took Matthai for Micro and he is the best. I think he also teaches A&P 2 on a limited basis.... But he is a great with lectures , you never have to wonder what he is talking about and he really cares if you learn.....

I'm starting A&P II tomorrow! And I signed up for Micro with Matthai in the fall because of all the good things I heard about his class :)

Good luck everyone!

I couldn't agree more. I wish the class hadn't gone quite so quickly - his antics are wonderful. I especially enjoyed all his references to the "ups" and the "outs". Oh, and Katy you were right about all the STD photos - he gets such a kick out of showing them. LOL

I'm bummed now because I switched my schedule to try to take more of the BSN required classes and couldn't fit him into my schedule. I have Schewie or something like that...?

I'm sitting here giggling. I told you!! Does he just crack you up or what?

LOL, my lab partner and I's favorite saying was how he was "pleading" with the text book author's to add something or change something. It was one of his favorite sayings I think. He definitely made the class much more enjoyable! :)
