Tarrant County College Fall 2014 Nursing Program

Published

This topic was created for those who will be applying to Tarrant County College's Fall 2014 Nursing Program. The dialog is open for those who have never applied and those who have applied multiple times. Let's discuss our frustrations, stats, best practices for study and the HESI, where you are at achieving your goal, and if you plan to apply anywhere else.

I have applied and was turned down 3.50 Science, 90 HESI, 970 Critical thinking (for another nursing program). I was knocked down, but I refuse to stay there.

Let's talk!

I received a response. They will NOT send the physical form out until after a student has been accepted. I find that ridiculous and funny seeing that El Centro wants that and your BLS card up front in the application package. The only information they do not want in Eligibility issues because those can be weeded out faster and they can hit the ground running with applications that are complete. Oh well...

Hello all. I was an alternate for spring 2014 3.5 gpa and 90.5 Hesi. It was a frustrating experience with the nursing department not telling us anything and JPS students getting in with a lot lower grades. I found it interesting they would not give us our ranks but they would for jps students, very suspicious.

Anyway does anyone know if there are usually more or less applicants for the fall time?

I'm hoping everyones grades will be lower this time around ;)

Also does anyone know anything about Weatherford's nursing program or who to call about that? There website is terrible with hardly any information at all. Makes me like TCC more.

My stats are just like your...basically. It sucks when they tell you other more qualified aspplicants were chosen when those JPS applicants had lower GPAs. I truly think they pick and choose arbitrarily. I heard there are less applicants in the Spring.

As for Weatherford, I understand they accept even less than TCC. I agree the site is not the greatest. The entrance exam requires the TEAS. They do not accept the HESI.

Thanks nursinghopeful. I was able to find out weatherford's information by google searching it instead of using their website. I applied to weatherford college on apply texas today and got my paper work ready for them. Seems like weatherford has less requirements than tcc.

Call them and ask to have a packet sent by mail if you are unable to pick one up on campus. It has all the info you might need. There's also a good chance the info you found online is outdated!

Let me just amend this. The Weatherford College website was updated very recently and everything you need to know IS there now but if you just want/need to see it in a more compact form, there is a packet you can get with the same information that is online. If you still need some assistance, you can call them and speak with the secretary that is over the nursing program specifically.

Hope that helps!

Hello all, I will be applying with a 3.5 and taking the HESI in Feb. I am really praying I get in, but Im not expecting to :(

Good luck to you all!

Welcome! You never know, there have been people placed on the alternate list. Don't lose hope. Good luck!

I have just started the spring 2014 semester. I know they were calling alternates last week for a few people who dropped out the first week of classes. So a low GPA doesn't mean no chance at all:) Good luck to you all!

Good to know tiffanies. Wonder why they dropped out already. When I was at orientation it seemed like there wasn't very many alternates cause most everyone had bought there there nursing kit.

I am interested in knowing why some dropped as well as the program requires a decent GPA or be JPS affiliated. I guess TCC really need to stop looking at GPA and look more for drive and dedication.

There is only 1 jps class, they are in my theory. Probably a total of 10 or so. From what I know people are being dropped if they do not have every single detail taken care of (shots, CPR, physical..etc) and just the stress of the program.
