Well I am no longer applying for the Fall 2010...I am applying for Spring 2010...if I do well in Chem II this Fall I should be getting into my school :yeah::yeah:

Well guys it's August....I am sure a number of us will be starting classes later this month....I wish us all good luck ...particularly those of us still taking any sciences.

Hi Eforelyse. I just submitted my application to Pace for the Spring, too. Yesterday, in fact. I'm nervous about not getting in, though, cuz I tanked on the GRE's. Did you apply yet? I'd love to hear from you as to what your grades and stuff were and whether you get in or not and I'll do the same!

Classes start 8/24 for me!

Ill be taking:

Intro to biological chemistry

College composition I

Algebra

Psychology

after this fall semester Ill be done with my prereqs and will be able to apply to take the NET.

Spring 2010 Ill be taking a few non nursing classes to get them out of the way:

A&P I

College composition II

and summer I will probably take A&P II.

Ill be applying after this fall semester to get into the fall 2010 program. I am beyond excited!

Specializes in Pediatrics, General Med/Surg.

So, did you apply to Pace? I guess I got confused somewhere along the way, because Pace's one year program requires that all those prerequisites be completed before starting.

Taking pre-reqs at Westchester Community College in NY.

Fall 2009

A & P I with Lab

Nutrition

General Psychology

Spring 2010

A & P II with Lab

Microbiology with Lab

Developmental Psychology - Life Span

Summer 2010

Intro to Sociology

Pharmacology (IF they have a Summer Session)

Bioethics (IF they have a Summer Session)

I already have an Associate's (Business Administration) so I am transferring my English Comp classes. I am trying to eliminate as many pre and co-reqs as possible, so that I can really concentrate on Nursing School. Unfortunately, I am going to have to work full-time and go to school part-time. Plus, did I mention I am a single mom? :lol2:The good thing is there is A LOT of down time at my job, my boyfriend (live out) is really supportive and my son is in school.

I want to apply to Cochran School of Nursing, Dorothea Hopfer School of Nursing and Westchester Community College RN Program (super competitive! :uhoh21:). I think those are the only 3 Nursing Schools in Westchester County. If I am wrong, please let me know!!!:nuke:

Hi Jasmdasm,

Ill be attending Spring 09 and taking A & P 1 definately and a bunch of other pre-reqs as well in the hopes to get into the Fall 2010 Day Nursing program...Im a single Mom as well so Im a little scared how this is all going to work out. I attended the info session tonight at WCC and it seems that clinicals start at 7am! And they could be up to an hour and a half drive away! Im looking into that now to see if thats really the case bc thats a little crazy for me..Are you looking to attend day or evening/weekend at wcc??

Wow, this is actually coming up pretty quick! Fall semester is half over and everything's on track so far. I changed out Speech and Statistics, and just finished the accelerated course so I can now focus on brushing up on my math skills. I have an orientation and meeting with an Advisor at PHCC on Friday. I'm still hoping to get in at SPC but keeping all my options open. The 2 schools are actually an equal distance from my house, so either one will be great considering there are 400+ applicants for 90 seats each new class!

Good luck everyone! Things are starting to seem more "real"!

Sharon

Taking:

Now: A&P I

Fall: A&P II, Psych, and Statistics (then I'm eligible to apply)

Spring: Micro and Speech (then all pre-reqs are done!)

(Still working out the Statistics - have to test out of Intermediate Algebra to go right into it)

Plan on applying by March 1, 2010 to St Petersburg College (Florida) and maybe Pasco Hernando CC, though SPC would be my first choice (proximity).

Time sure is flying and things are going well so far for me as well! I am taking Chem, AP 1 AND English Online (had to retake for a better grade) this Fall. I am doing well in all my classes (studying my butt off :/)...I just sure hope it carries over for the next few quarters. I am taking AP 2 and Dev Psych Winter qtr and then Microbiology and Sociology in the Spring! I cannot wait to apply! It still seems far away, but definitely a LOT closer than it seemed before! Good luck to everyone! Keep working hard! :)

Hi Scrapworking,

I just read your post. You have a heavy course load! I did too when I was taking prerequisites. (I'll be finished at the end of this semester.) I just wanted to mention since you still have time -- schools put more stock in those prerequisite grades than they like to admit to prospective students. They may or may not stress it when you first inquire, but those prerequisite grades seem to count more than almost anything else in admissions decisions.

... I'm sure you probably already know, but I found myself surprised and kind of caught off guard.

Good luck!

Yes, both schools use a selective process for admission and are clear upfront that GPA is weighted heavily (one school gave me the actual %) and tell you what the last class that was selected GPA average. Fortunately, (I think!) I was laid off in April and have not found work...so I've made school my job, therefore "pay" = getting an "A"! It's still stressful but I'm managing it.

Thanks for the thoughts...all encouragement is welcome. Hoping you get into the program you want!!

New to the board. 36 year old career changer with advanced degrees but now it's time to follow my heart. Will be taking my only 2 remaining prereqs in January (A&PII and Intro Socio) with hopes of starting at FSCJ in Fall 2010. Haven't decided on day or evening/weekends yet. Trying to still figure out the details. Thankful for a wonderfully supportive hubby.

I am also new to the board.... and i thought i shared with you all what my future schedules looks like before applying to nursing school for fall2010.

Currently taking

I am almost done with all my pre-reqs.... the only thing I need is my cna certification before i can apply and i will be taking the admission test either at the end of jan2010 or end of feb2010. Wish me luck!!!! I wish all of you good luck in getting in your desired program. :yeah:

Im anxiously awaiting class registration day at my school due to hearing that the A & P classes fill up extremely quick. Since Im a new student to the school, I have to wait 4 weeks after the current students get their picks of classes first. If I dont get into the a * p next semester and a & p 2 in the summer, I will not be able to apply for the nursing program in the fall of 10. Wish me luck!
