Taking prereqs and applying spring 2010 for fall 2010

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey all..... just decided to start a thread for all of us you are finishing up prereqs and plan on applying in Spring 2010 for admission into the Fall 2010 semester. Just a place to vent frustrations and post up good news. Just follow the format

Taking:

API

APII (spring): taking both over and hope for A's

Biochem/Organic Chem

Plan on applying Jan 2010 to LIU-Brooklyn and the College of New Rochelle ....but I am hoping to get into LIU:D

NEXT.....

I am not sure if I already posted over the summer (I don't think I did!) but here goes:

This semester I am retaking a couple of pre reqs after slacking off last spring :(

APHY 102, luckily I am pulling a B right now and an A is still possible!

English Comp

Next semester:

retaking APHY 101 to bump my B to an A

CNA prep

Technical Writing

Dosage Calc

Summer:

Micro

Lifespan Development

I go to a community college where its pretty much expected that you have all As in your pre reqs in order to be admitted into the nursing program. Otherwise I would be happy with a B in 101!

I am applying by April 1st so I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. If I can manage an A in 102 this semester then all should be good! Now...to bring that stupid TEAS score up 10 points to a 95 :D

I'm so glad to see this thread. I'm from Florida but in Arkansas for school. I will be applying for the ADN progam at the University of Arkansas at Ft.Smith. I also want to apply to the bachelors but am unsure if I will have enough pre-reqs completed to apply.

My school does not require any pre-reqs for the ADN program but is very competetive so if you don't have g.e classes done your shot at getting in is much lower. The ranking system is 25% gpa 75% PAX RN exam. So yeah I have A LOT riding on that exam!

I wish everybody the best of luck.

Hello Everyone!

I thought I would bump up this thread by listing my info. I am in Michigan and will be applying to my community colleges nursing program by March 1st (the deadline) to start either Fall 2010 or Spring 2011 (when you start is luck of the draw). In my school, you can not include your spring classes (the same semester you apply) into your application so you have to be finished with them by fall. Since I finished all of my pre-reqs this fall, next week I will be beginning classes toward my BSN.

I am signed up for Microbiology Lab (I took the lecture last semester), Sociology and a 1 credit self-defense class.

I wish everyone Good Luck with applying!

I've been reading the forum for a bit while I finally made up my mind to go forward into the nursing program. I decided to join and wanted to wish everyone good luck. I hope everyone gets in to the program of their choice. :)

I'm a Biology major so switching over to Nursing pre-reqs hasn't been too bad. I'm finishing up my Assoc. in Science this coming semester and plan to apply to my colleges PN program in the fall. I start spring semester on the 11th and I'm pretty excited.

Howdy,

I am applying this spring for the fall 2010 ADN program at Ancilla College in Indiana. I am taking my Hesi this month and have been stressed and studying for it and I think I will do pretty good. As long as there isn't any algebra or word problems-----> kick my butt. :)

I have all my pre reqs done with the exception of A/P 2, Chem. The cool thing is since I transfered from another school to Ancilla, I have all the other pre reqs done so I don't have to concentrate on other subjects other than nursing when it comes down to my classes. :D

My GPA is a 3.62 and on High Honors. My school is kinda competitive and I am an older student (32) shhhhhh.. hehehe...

Good Luck to all the other fellow stressed out pre nursing students.

Kudos to us for following our dreams:yeah:

:p Hello all.... i actually turned in myapplication for nursing last month. I am currently waiting to take my test for the cna state exam in illinois which will be this month in a couple of weeks!!!! so excited & nervous. Next month i'll be taking my pre admission exam which is the nln.... i am super nervous on this one. Finally i've decided on which classes to take this upcoming semester which will be starting on Jan 19th. I will be taking Anat. & Phys II, Pharmacology and Nutrition. GOOD LUCK TO US ALL THIS UPCOMING SEMESTER!!! :lol2: LETS ALL ROOT FOR AN "A"

this spring i finish up A&PII and Stats - but i maybe able to drop that...all applications go in 1 feb - epp! i am only doing three schools this go around (BSN, 2nd degree) we'll see how it goes, I take the NET in the am and have not done anything for it - i guess we'll see how that goes....good luck to all!

]To all you A&P I veterans, I need your help!

I am taking A&P I, along with Western Civ., Intermediate Algebra, and the Psychology of Happiness this Spring 2010 and I need some advice from the experts. My concern an question is whether or not I should allow more time between AP lecture/lab and Math? A&P lecture is at 11-11:52 am, Math is from 12:30-1:50 pm and A&P lab (located in another building, but I could make it in 10 min.) is from 2-5:00 pm. Honestly, I'm not worried about getting there on time, I'm more concerned about whether or not I will need more time to mentally prepare and transistion from Math to A&P I lab. My gut says no and I want to change my Math to another day, but I've heard wonderful things about this Math professor and I can use all the help I can get in Math. What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Kena

i would say that you should be fine - a good prof in a topic that one knows that they have problems with is a wonderful thing and should always be taken whenever possible!

I hope so. I just want to minimize my stress levels as much as possible prior to jumping in the fire. Thanks for your input!

Well, I'm some what of a test crammer so I loved having time before lab tests to study last minute. I'm lucky enough to have A&P at night and the rest of my courses during the day. Having to know so many different bones, muscles, etc. I felt more comfortable having the time to look over things again before lab. Either way I'm sure you will do great. Sometimes it's all about the teacher and if you truly think that teacher will be the best for you it might be worth not having that time between classes. Good luck! :)
