  1. I am a First Year Nursing Student (again) and I am sooooo ready and prepared for this year! I found an AWESOME job working home health and I will tell you what, I will appreciate my RN sooo much more after having this job. I have one on one hands on care with my clients. I am by myself so I have critical thinking constantly in motion, plus I am learning time mgmt, organization, and true pt care! I totally recommend anyone try home health or have a CNA job during school or before.. The experience is priceless:yeah::yeah:
  2. I am excited also to be back in Nursing School this fall. I didn't do so hot last fall and I am ssooooo ready to kick butt this semester. I am not a "traditional" student. I am 34, married and have an 11 y/o who is active in EVERYTHING!!!!! I can't wait to get back into the swing of things this fall. I got a GREAT job doing home health care this summer and talk about experience:uhoh3: It has been way to cool. I will sit down with NCLEX questions and stuff makes more sense now:yeah: Good Luck Everybody!!!
  3. I read this post and thought AMEN!!! Last fall was a complete nightmare for me. I did not expect my hubby to stray and he did, found out right before my first Nursing test! Then I spent the rest of the fall repairing my family is the most impt to me. After that, I just couldn't get into my work and I felt soooo negative about school and my education, that I just didn't care and let everyone know about it. I found a job this summer working home health care and completely fell in love! :redpinkhe I have learned so much and I am sooo excited to get back into Nursing school this fall. I know that my attitude and confidence has changed dramatically because I am running solo with my clients and it is nothing but critical thinking and application. So kudos to me and those who have over come adversity, drama, and whatnot, to get back onto the saddle again and ride into the world of Nursing!
  4. HI! I will be retaking my ADN program again this fall! Actually I am very excited to go back into it honestly. After much reflection and taking care of personal family matters, I am ready to tackle school again. I know what I can and cannot control and this to me was the biggest obsticle in my way of succeeding. I am going into Nursing because I want to give back to others. I was diagnosed with BC in 2006 at the age of 29 and had the entire Oncology works.... What is interesting about this is that I have been on the patient side of things an dwas going by that experience to get me through school. I found that my program and others around, do not teach those valuable skills of one on one care. I took a job this summer working homecare and I LOVE IT!!! :heartbeat I have learned so much from being one on one with a client that I know this knowledge is going to help me in the long run. I whole heartedly suggest anyone going into Nursing, get their CNA or work home health or something along those lines. Truly at this point I am practicing Nursing, just not with a RN at the end of my name! Good Luck!
  5. Hi All!! I will be restarting my ADN program this fall. I was wondering if anyone else has had to repeat Fundies and any advice for study tips, tests, clinicals and exit exams. It isn't an easy thing going back into somthing you failed the first time, but, you grow and learn from your mistakes and kick butt the second time around! :)
  6. I was the same way last fall. I didn't pass Fundies and I am getting back on the saddle again to start over this fall. I was overwhelmed the first 2 months and was freaked out and didn't know what to do or how to do it. I suggest you get a good study buddy or group and take notes, highlet the heck out of your book and keep every single piece of paper u are given. I know what I did wrong last fall and I am going to change those habits so they don't follow me this fall. Good Luck! U can do it!
  7. Hi, I have the same problem. I can narrow down the questions to 2 or can figure it out on the get go. I know that I need to practice, practice the questions. I have 2 really good NCLEX books that I have been using to practice with. Saunder's is an excellent book. I recommend it!
  8. Hi My scores for the HESI were in the 80's and 90's and my gpa was a 3.8 when I applied and was accepted last March. I wouldnt worry about your scores, they look great! I dont remember the topics for the essay, but i wouldnt worry!! :)Have you looked into Bethel?? They have a wonderful program for bridging. I changed my mind about BM and going elsewhere! Good luck!
  9. Hi! I am seriously looking into brown mackie for my lpn. Has anyone had any experience with the program? Ive heard both good and bad and I'm just curious if anyone is or has gone to brown mackie. Thank u
  10. Hi! I am starting my LPN program either this summer or fall pending on any other hiccups along the road. lol:D I was reading the above msgs and now I am a little confused on what we as LPN's can do with shots, and IV's. Are we allowed to give shots? Are we allowed to start and IV? Are we allowed to provide IV maitence? Are we allowed to disconnect an IV? Do we need to be certified to deal with IV? and does LPN school provide this cert or employer? Thank You! :rckn:
  11. I was in a ADN program last fall and didn't pass and going for my LPN! I truly am excited about it and I found a different school that will "teach" me the way I need to be taught and work around my school and home schedule. I do get upset when LPN's are always knocked around and knocked down. I'm not really sure why that is the case and I could be naive, but what is the difference btwn a LPN and RN? I am acutally over qualified for my LPN class and I can get it done in a year, but that is ok with me!!! :) I just want to help people. Keep It Up! Future LPN
  12. Howdy! Congrats all!! I attend a small private school in Northern Indiana for my ADN and didn't pass last Fall. Actually I am glad that I didn't pass. I am actually going for my LPN and I am very very happy with that!!! It's not that I couldnt handle the material, I found it fascinating, but I could not get the help that I asked for, the gobs of DRAMA and BACKSTABBING by students and staff and not to mention the 475 a cr hr to top it off! All of this was soooo frustrating, that I decided to look into other schools and found one that is perfect for my learning style and I can't wait to start in the fall! I went for my interview 2 weeks ago and heard this week that I should be having my follow up very soon!!!!!! I also want to go on for my bridge to RN but I want to get some experience under my belt before I do that. Yea for Us!!
  13. Hello!! I couldn't find in the Nursing Brochure for the ADN program at a small school in Northern Indiana, the DRAMA and Back Stabbing "B" Club!!!!!! Holy Smokes the DRAMA!!!!!:argue: I am honestly glad that I didn't pass the semester!! I could not get over the catty, back stabbing behavior by students and staff... It was un-real. I am at the point now that I REFUSE to go back this coming fall and re-take my Fundamentals of Nursing here due to all the BS that goes on. I honestly wanted to rip my hair out I am no a spring chicken by any means, I will be 34 in April and was looking foward to learning about how to help people and save lives, and be with other adults, but NO WAY!!!! I feel better that I wasn't the only one feeling this way... Whew
  14. I started my ADN program this past fall with the hopes of passing with a 75%. I missed it by 4!!!!!:smackingf I have since then cried, kicked, screamed, felt like crap, ate WAY to much chocolate and felt sorry for myself. I reached the point yesterday and today that I am over 50% with a foreign language. I got a 71. Ok, that is 71 out of 100% and it could of been a 61 out of 100%. The point I am trying to make is that "If first you dont suceed, dust yourself off and try again, try again." (Aleyiah) I heard that song today and IT FINALLY DAWNED ON ME THAT I WILL BE OK and I will learn more from this experience. I have to repeat my Fundementals of Nursing next fall. I dealt with this semester an affair(husband) 10 yr old daughter, school, health issues(RA gone bad=Lupus), crappy self esteem which dragged down my attitude, which none of these are no excuses by any means, but the fact that I got the grade I did with all of this crap going on, well, is pretty good. I am getting some testing books over the summer to help me with understanding our tests more and if I have to sit in on 2 lectures a week and extra clinical time then fine, I will. I work better with getting the info, doing the hands on, and then spitting it out on a test. It didn't happen this way this past semester, so I discovered this myself. Tweeking as they call it! Good Luck!!!! Don't feel bad. The best Nurses come out crisis situations!! :)
  15. Yes. They are great reference materials for questions you cant remember to answer.. I have all of mine and I am actually teaching Anatomy Lab to students this semester along with Nursing School.... :)
