Taking NCLEX too soon?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I graduated nursing school about 2 weeks ago, and I am scheduled to take NCLEX in 10 days!!!!! I am SO nervous Since May 19th (when I got my ATT) I have been reading my Saunders review book, the online study guides I have found, HESI's NCLEX review and studying notecards and doing some questions (about 100 a day), but I still do NOT feel prepared AT ALL! I am considering rescheduling my NCLEX, but I don't know if that is a good idea or not. I WILL NOT procrastinate! I will study hard every day if I do push it back to a later date! So that is not a problem. UGHHHHH I just don't know what to do!?! Any advice? Anyone?

Don't reschedule! Listen you will never feel 100% ready. I know of people who take NCLEX a few days after pinning. If you are waiting for that feeling, you will be waiting forever. It is never too soon because the longer you wait the more information you forget. Just continue studying until one day before, take a rest the day before the exam so your brain could relax.

Just take it easy. Good luck!

Thank you SO much! (: I really needed to hear that!

I studied hardcore for 9 days for Nclex. I did hurst and PDA book daily. I think you are good as long as you are dedicated to the material in the short amount of time. I wouldn't have done it any other way. I am so glad it's over and I'm a RN!

You're welcome! Don't forget to come back and tell us about your experience after NCLEX:)

Oh I definitely will! (:

I was applying to an internship that was specifically for graduate nurses who were not planning on taking the NCLEX until September at the earliest (the program was somehow supposed to prepare you for the NCLEX) and everyone in the nursing program told me NOT to do it - they said it's absolutely proven that you have a higher chance of passing the sooner you take it after graduating. I think you'll do great :)

The only reason I haven't taken the test yet is because my ATT hasn't arrived!!! I graduated May 10th, so if my ATT arrives I hope to take the text this coming Saturday... every day I wait makes me more nervous (even though I'm using every extra day to study more). I wish I could go ahead and schedule it. I say go full speed ahead -- like others have said, I don't think anyone ever feels "completely ready" -- just trust yourself and your studying to get you through :)

got my ATT on Wednesday and I'm taking it next Saturday 6/1 - which was the first appointment they had - if I could have taken it the day after graduation I would have!

I graduated on May 10th, got my ATT on May 21st and took the NCLEX-RN the NEXT day (this last Tuesday). 75 questions in 52 minutes and I found out yesterday that I passed!!! Didn't even have time to study for it. The way I look at it is that the longer I wait, the more I would stress. So I just did it. And I am thankful. Don't reschedule...just do it!!! You graduated....you have the knowledge needed!!! Good luck and keep us posted!!

U guys lucky i graduate back on December have been waiting for almost 4 moths to get my ATT now, i schedule my exam on June 17, wish me luck:) I'm just doing the question question questions,,,

Good luck to u! Lets us now who's the test go;)
