Taking NCLEX Jan 7th

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

It's finally here: TEST DAY! I take NCLEX tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. I graduated a few weeks ago and am ready to close the door on "nursing student" and open the door marked of "registered nurse".

For those getting ready for NCLEX, I learned something valuable today: DO NOT ASSUME YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR TEST SITE IS! My test site is less than 15 minutes from my house (although with traffic and lights it can be closer to 30 minutes, even longer during rush hour.) I'm so glad I did a test drive today! I realized it wasn't exactly where I thought nor was it on the side of the street I thought it was. Granted for some streets that's not a big deal but 1) it's on a major thoroughfare, 2) I'll be heading there during morning traffic, and 3) the direction I came from made making a U-turn a challenge. Once I finally got to the office park, I drove around and around trying to find the correct building -- there are several small buildings that are all part of the office park. After 10 minutes of driving through parking lots, I finally found it. Had this been tomorrow morning, I probably would have been in tears, worried about being late. Now I know exactly where to go so I can plan my morning accordingly. Relief!

I'll post again after my test. I'm most likely NOT going to do "the trick". If it shows the good pop up, I'll be stressed about whether or not it's right and if it takes my credit card I'll be stressed about failing. I've heard my state posts fairly quickly, often earlier than the quick results. If 48 hours have passed and I don't see my name, then I'll pay for QR.

My husband and kids are the only people who know I'm testing. I wanted to keep it to myself until it was over.

I'll let you know!

Specializes in Med nurse in med-surg., float, HH, and PDN.

Wow! I am an oldie-but-goodie who took my boards back in the day when it was #2 pencils and filling in those damn little ovals for TWO DAYS of morning and afternoon sessions lasting 4 hrs each.

I graduated in May, couldn't take the boards until the end of July and had to wait 4 months to find out if I passed!

I was very fortunate that my test was heavily oriented to orthopedics, in which I was already working full-time. It was a whole 'nother world back then!

Taking mine in two weeks and have basically been reading. Now I'm gonna do questions dro ATI, Saunders, and Cram.

I'm gonna sound like I'm giving you the third degree for a second but...

Did you have to take the ATI predictor when you graduated... did it predict you would pass successfully? Also, how long after the predictor (if you took one) did you take the exam?

Ok. I'm done now.

Just curious.

Congrats on becoming a nurse.

Go! Save lives!

I took the ATI predictor test Dec 4th, so just about a month ago. I scored a 99% chance of passing.

I forgot to add the part about walking bare-foot in the snow for five miles.....

It's been 25 hours and I just did the PVT again. Still the good pop up so now I'm anxiously waiting to see my name on the NCBON site. If it's not there by tomorrow morning, I'll do quick results.

I'm still waiting too! Im 45 hours post so I'm sure these last 3 hours will drag!!

Congratulations! Quick Results are available 48 hours after the test. Your state board will take longer to post. NCBON says 5 business days after the test but some may take weeks.

Update: it's been 47 hours and nothing has been posted yet on NCBON nor are my quick results available yet. Truly, the wait hasn't been stressful. I've kept myself busy with work and errands; the time had passed quickly. I'll keep checking and will update with news!
