Taking NCLEX Jan 7th

Published

It's finally here: TEST DAY! I take NCLEX tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. I graduated a few weeks ago and am ready to close the door on "nursing student" and open the door marked of "registered nurse".

For those getting ready for NCLEX, I learned something valuable today: DO NOT ASSUME YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR TEST SITE IS! My test site is less than 15 minutes from my house (although with traffic and lights it can be closer to 30 minutes, even longer during rush hour.) I'm so glad I did a test drive today! I realized it wasn't exactly where I thought nor was it on the side of the street I thought it was. Granted for some streets that's not a big deal but 1) it's on a major thoroughfare, 2) I'll be heading there during morning traffic, and 3) the direction I came from made making a U-turn a challenge. Once I finally got to the office park, I drove around and around trying to find the correct building -- there are several small buildings that are all part of the office park. After 10 minutes of driving through parking lots, I finally found it. Had this been tomorrow morning, I probably would have been in tears, worried about being late. Now I know exactly where to go so I can plan my morning accordingly. Relief!

I'll post again after my test. I'm most likely NOT going to do "the trick". If it shows the good pop up, I'll be stressed about whether or not it's right and if it takes my credit card I'll be stressed about failing. I've heard my state posts fairly quickly, often earlier than the quick results. If 48 hours have passed and I don't see my name, then I'll pay for QR.

My husband and kids are the only people who know I'm testing. I wanted to keep it to myself until it was over.

I'll let you know!

Overall, the questions are just WEIRD. I don't known how to explain it. I did questions from Lippincott, Kaplan, and ATI and NCLEX questions were just different. My drag and drop was a basic procedure to put in order. The EKG wasn't anything tricky. The SATA varied from easy to questionable depending on how much I knew about the topic of the question. Most of my questions were SATA, prioritization, and alternative format.

Specializes in Medical Surgical.

Congratulations! I am taking it in less than two weeks and am using ATI to study. Hopefully I will do as well as you did :)

Good luck to you! I'll feel better once I get my official results.

Thank you! I'm really nervous bc I think I'm the first to test out of my class - I will have put 4 long hard weeks of studying in. Any tips on how you got your mind right the week before? I feel like my anxiety is overwhelming and I keep having unmotivational freak out spells :/. I need to feel confident before going in I just dont know how that will happen haha.

My co workers says that depending on the state.. you can call your state Board of Nursing the day after you took your exam at around 10am and they'll say if you passed or failed.. you can also look up your license.. If you know someone who is already RN you can ask them to look up you name within 24 hours. :specs:

Just believe in yourself.. Tell yourself that that is your chance to change everything so DO YOUR BEST. Pray for God support and thank him for support after. and think of your family, childrens if you have. and most of all FOCUS! EVERY QUESTIONS ARE IMPORTANT, DO NOT GO EASY ON EACH OF THEM.

Honestly, I wasn't nervous going into the test. I did questions for about 3 weeks from Kaplan, Lippincott, ATI, and a few apps. Once the questions started I remember thinking ***** because the questions seemed to come from outer space. The majority of my questions were SATA, prioritization, and alternate format. I took my time, read every word in the question, and analyzed every answer option. I hope the PVT is right!

I'm in NC and on the NCBON site you can look up anybody's license since it's public knowledge. I'll be checking every so often until Friday at 8:00 a.m. when I can do quick results. I hope it's posted before then!

What is PVT and how to do the trick? i m testing at the end of Jan and god knows how much anxious i am, reading all nurses blogs gives me hope and keeps me little calm. any body testing for virginia? I even dont know where to look for the results. virginia is not even listed on the states where you can pay to pearson vue and look for result after 48 hours. Where do i find my nursing licensure number ? is it nclex idea number ? if not where do i get it? help please !!

good luck for all the test takers !!!!!

There are TONS of posts here and on the internet about the PVT. Search it and you'll get lots of information. I can go to my state's BON (NCBON) and search "verify license" to see if my license has posted. NC supposedly posts within 5 business days but we can pay Pearson Vue $7.95 for quick results after 48 hours.

Congrats on becoming a nurse.

Taking mine in two weeks and have basically been reading. Now I'm gonna do questions dro ATI, Saunders, and Cram.

I'm gonna sound like I'm giving you the third degree for a second but...

Did you have to take the ATI predictor when you graduated... did it predict you would pass successfully? Also, how long after the predictor (if you took one) did you take the exam?

Ok. I'm done now.

Just curious.

Congrats on becoming a nurse.
