Take Microbiology online or on campus?

Published

I have the ability to choose if I wan to take Microbiology online or on campus, and I don't know what to do. I do really well with online classes, my high school was a computer based. If I go to campus I would have to find a babysitter for that day of the week. My question is for any who has taken Microbiology, do you think that it is too hard to take online, and if I do take it online do you have any advice?

I couldn't take micro online because I had to be present for lab.

However, If you have this option and you know you do well in online classes, then I say make your life easier and take it online.

Take it online if you do well in online classes. I took a 4 credit hour micro class and lab online and it was so much easier to manage with kids. Most of the people I know recommended online because they thought it was easier than the campus class. I do know our campus class you actually did the lab experiments, but the online version you just read about the experiment and took a quiz.

I took Micro online but lab in person. I found that my lab partners who had the same teacher for lecture had to learn a lot less in lecture than I had to online. Maybe it's just a quirk of my school, but my online Micro was a lot harder than their in person lecture.

I do much better in online classes than in person classes. I like to learn at my own pace. I have to take lab with micro, but were I given the choice, I'd do it online.

I decided to do online, I think that overall it would work better for me

Just make sure that future nursing programs you apply to accept your online micro class/ lab portion if you have that available.

I highly highly suggest campus. Micro is a hard subject that I feel requires a lot of hands on to truly grasp the concepts.

I took microbiology in person and it was so hard! my nursing school didnt accept online

I would take it on campus. It is a difficult class to wrap your head around at first and if you have a good instructor, they will make it much easier to understand. I would suggest searching available instructors (if you have an option of choosing) on Ratemyprofessor.com where you will see reviews from previous students. I felt that Micro helped me tremendously with understanding infection control and how certain antibiotics work vs others in the nursing world as well as how to visualize the parts of a cell which will come in handy when studying Patho of diseases as a nurse or nursing student. Definitely take it on campus, even more so if you're a visual learner.

Hi TiredKitten where did you take your micro course online? I am looking for the same option. Thanks!
