Thanks

I would go back for further education only if it were in an area totally unrelated to nursing.

I truly admire nurses advancing their education.

We are heading for a severe shortage of Professors of Nursing and Nurse Educators.

I earned my BSN after my kids grew up. LOVE taking CE classes!

Also work night shift with a great group of co workers. No more educational goals for me.

Specializes in Adolescent Psych, PICU.

I am absolutly going to continue my education! Right now I am working on my BSN pre-reqs and after that I plan to get my masters (in what I dont know yet). I am interested in so many fields on nursing...especially research and eventually teaching.

So much to do so little time...

I LOVE school, I cant imagine I will ever stop going to school. I would also like to study more things outside of nursing too like art.

I am finishing up my MSN in August and hav ebeen toying with the thought of perhaps another degree. I have thought of getting a PhD in nursing, but am not really sure what I would do with it. I have been working in an academic environment and really enjoying that, but I really don't want to leave the bedside. I also thought about going to law school and practicing child advocacy law. I think I am going to take a break for a little while before I do either, however, and do some travelling. I have been going to school year round for almost four years (RN-MSN) and am ready for some me time for a little while.

I have a BS in Nursing, and definately would like to continue my education. However, if & when I go back for my MS, it won't be in Nursing. I love school & learning new things. The more education, the better.

Specializes in Community Health Nurse.

I'm returning to school for a Bachelors and Masters in Health Administration so I can hopefully make some MAJOR changes for my nursing comrades in these United States. I don't see anyone else making a difference in my sixteen years as a RN, sooooo.......somebody's got to do the nasty job, right??? :D :nurse:

I am a second year nursing student in an ADN program and will finish up next year (May 04)... I have a BS in Biology and Chemistry (worked as a Chemist for 7 years) and after a year of "on the floor nursing"... I will most likely take a bridge course and enter into the MSN program....either education or Administration...

Although this depends where I end up working after my ADN.. If its around a University that offers a P.A. program....then I most likely will go into this direction.

I guess Im like many others on this board..... I like education or maybe its just a collection of degrees :chuckle

I definitely plan on going on. I just finished taking my last final (for a grade) and do not know what I should do with myself. I feel as if I should be studying. Thing is, I am. I am studying for a medication test I have to take on Monday at my future place of employment and I have been studying for boards. I also really enjoy learning. I plan on taking a year or so off after getting my ADN (on Sunday...Woo hoo!), pay off some bills, and then go back for my BSN. As for Master's...at one time I wanted to get it by the time I was 30, but I just don't think that is a reality. Maybe by the time I am 35.

Specializes in med/surg, cardiac/telemetry, hospice.

I just finished my pre-req (I got a "B" in Stats!!) for the RN-BSN program, but I haven't applied yet. I plan on, eventually, going for the MSN, but I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. ;)

I plan on starting school in fall for my bsn so I can continue forward for my fnp/nnp I have a long road but if I don't do it now I will never finish.

Specializes in Cardiac/Vascular & Healing Touch.

plan on a MS in Holistic Nursing, some day...... meanwhile, I have completed 2 certs. Whew, they made me tired! Let me get thru JCAHO & then I'll think about school again! :D

I think about it from time to time (old diploma RN here) but I'm finding the cost and time prohibitive at this point in my life. With few returns on my investment.

I never say never though...if I find it to be a positive move for me someday I can always return for my BSN (and higher.) :)
