I've been a LPN for 16 years...I want to go back to school but I'd like to finish by an online program or correspondence. Unfortunately the wonderful state of Illinois that I live in doesn't recogonize it!!! If anyone has any other ideas or options, please help! Thanks!

RN TO BSN? Shouldn't that read ADN to BSN??? We are all RN's just different education paths. I plan to continue on to at least a MSN so that I may teach someday when I am old and gray. I think education is always prefered to stagnation of brain cells. What I would really like to see is common sense and self respect taught more often. Any one can be educated but some are still ignorant.

I've been accepted into an Undergraduate program at a local state University and plan on taking online courses...to satisfy the 80 CEU's for my CCM. I just got my certification, but it's NEVER too early! :D

I'll be 50 when I recieve my BSN but would like to go on and get FNP. Thinking that may be more suited for an older nurse than floor work.

I'm currently enrolled in the University of Phoenix distance education program for my BSN. I waited 10 years after completion of my ADN to try this program (which is all done through chat mails and submitting course work on-line) and I'm really sorry I waited to long :o I used to be in the camp that "I'm sick of school and I'm not gonna needs this anyway", but then I crossed over to the "dark side" and became a clinical nurse manager and a HAVE to get my degree :rolleyes: Now I see the value in the BSN program. It really expands the realm of nursing from a process/task oriented mindset to a more visionary/global view of our profession. It also helps bring a better understanding of all the opportunities for nurses, such as research, teaching, forensics, etc. I'm SO HAPPY that I was FORCED to get my BSN. I think it has given me a broader understanding of nursing and empowered me to facillitate positive changes for our profession.:D I'm also very please with the format of learning offered by UOP. If it wasn't for the flexibility of distance education programs like this I don't think I could work full time+ and obtain my degree. I can sit at home at midnight in my 'jammys' drinking Chai Tea and participate in my on-line classroom!;)

I would like to hear how your on line schooling pans out. I have considered UPO (Master's program) but just am so busy now, with JCAHO coming up & 3 jobs, haven't had time or the $$...congrats on your undertaking your BSN. :D

I have a BSN and plan on going to CRNA school in a couple years... I have one year of ICU experience under my belt, but would like some more before I consider applying to grad school. I am taking some higher level science courses that weren;t required for my nursing degree in order to prepare myself...and studying for the GRE to get that out of the way!!!!

Ianswered "Other" because I have already done the RN to BSN curriculum after my ADN (3 years from RN to BSN). I am glad I did altough I have received no compensation for it. It does look great on my resume and I am so proud of myself.

I also applied for and passed a Board Certification in Medical Surgical Nurse Clinical through the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center).

I used the think I might go on for a Masters but feel, two years post bachelors education, that I am still relishing and growing persoanlly and professionally; plus I need to pay off the school loans!

I have heard Laura speak twice & she is a riot. I know administration hates to see her come in the door!!!!! congrats on passing your BC in M/S Nrsg! I did mine thru ANCC in CV Nrsg. Boy was it a doozy! Glad I did it though. :D

Once I have my BSN-RN Im planning on working for a year or so, then beginning my Masters to get my MSN-NP!

ALSO I plan on getting certified in different areas.

A simple yes might have sufficed... but I plan on doing many many many more years of schooling (Im 32) :)
