SUNY-Downstate summer '09--Introduce yourselves please!

Nursing Students General Students

Published

From the pre-nursing board there were a number of us waiting to hear from Downstate, and by now quite a few have been accepted!

So please, introduce yourselves here in the Nursing Student forum, and let's continue the discussion as we prepare to start classes in 3 months.

Where are you holding so far? Medical clearance, CPR, supplies, figuring out your finances and schedules for the next year... let's discuss!

kieradv,

i registered for the total of 4 courses for summer ii.

i too assumed that nrbs 341 includes the clinical course.

which section did you pick for health assessment for summer i monday’s or friday’s?

Specializes in Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy.

I still have a hold on registration. Please, please save me a place in the Monday Health Assessment--I MUST be in the Monday class.

They finally lifted that silly hold and I was able to register today.:yeah:

I called to make sure and was told to register for both summer sessions.

I'm in the Monday Health Assesment class. It doesn't look like anyone has registered for the Friday class yet.

feelin-like-healin,

yay! glad to hear it! :yeah:

chaya,

we're keeping our fingers crossed for you!!! :hngon:hang on!

I'm going back to Downstate tomorrow to check the PPD... I hope I can convince them to lift the hold then.

Can you tell how many people have already registered for the Monday class? I absolutely cannot take the Friday class. If they don't lift this hold soon.... :angryfire

I registered for summer session 1 on 4/27. Then I looked up my class schedule today(4/29) and I was registered for all my summer session 2 classes also. The site had 4/28 as the date when these classes were registered. I guess the school is automatically registering everyone for summer session 2. By the way there are 2 seats available in the Monday class for Introduction to Physical Assessment.

Now there is only one seat left. That is NOT good for me. Not good at all. I'm going down today to sort out this medical hold. If that seat is taken by the time I can register.... :angryfire

Hello Everyone,

I am so glad I found this site but sad that I'm only finding it now!:yeah::lol2: My name is Hope and I am looking forward to meeting everyone on June 1st as we start this adventure together. Thanks so much for ll of the helpful info.

I too looked at the uniforms- can we say matronly??- and I'm wondering if anyone knows the brand name of the oh-so-attractive smock we get to wear. I am always sure that there is a cheaper way to do everything, so if i find anything out, I'll be sure to let you all know.

Hope

So i just checked my Banner account to see if I was also registered for the second part of the summer semester. It turns out I am registered as well.

A real surprise, though, is that under the financial aid tab, I was offered a loan that I still have not been made aware of. If my curiosity hadn't gotten the best of me, I still wouldn't know that they had offered me a loan.

If any of you are waiting for a financial aid decision or if you would like to see what the exact cost of attendance is, all of the individual costs are listed there as well.

Hope

chaya, keep us posted, i sure hope you get that seat!

hope, :grpwlcm:

i can't believe there is only a month left before we start...

yeah, the uniforms are pretty lame, but from what i've read on this site it's not the worst!

if you are taking their offered loan don't forget to sign the promissory note and complete the entrance counseling session on the federal loan's website.

did anyone finish the hippa training?
