Hi everyone,
I haven't seen any thread for the SUNY Downstate ABSN program for the Fall 2024 start so I thought so here's one for anyone applying/attending/etc!

Thank you SO much for your response. This is very helpful. I think I will try to go part-time... Do you think it's plausible to commute from Harlem throughout the program? I am trying to decide whether to move to Brooklyn or not. It's a guessing game because I won't find out about my acceptance until May because I am currently taking Microbiology and Chemistry. My overall GPA from undergrad + grad is 3.7, Science GPA 4.0 (so far). TEAS score Science 98, Math 100, Reading 90, ELU 91. I am not sure if I will be admitted, especially if the cohort is filled before I receive my Microbiology and Chemistry grades. Any advice would be appreciated-- thank you so much again for your time.
Hi we are only on campus once a week so for the first semester I think if you're willing to put up with the commute time- then no need to move! I know the commute is a pain but it will save more money than moving down to Brooklyn. Especially due to everything being online, I don't think it's necessary. It might even be cheaper to rent a cheap hotel in the city or Brooklyn the night before and take the train over. The second semester you can pick different sites. We had montefiore this semester and a few city sites as well. You will enroll for Spring semester around thanksgiving usually, and decide if you need to move to Brooklyn for the Spring.

Thanks for all your input! Do you by chance know if the screener assigned is a good sign or is it just something everyone gets when they are being reviewed? It seems like some people have it and some don't.
Usually it means your application is under review. They never go too deep into the details... but there some people who don't hear back until May or June. I don't think everyone gets screener assigned until the school is actively processing your application. I think It's definitely a good sign, they are prob deciding if your application qualify to move forward the next step. (This is based on my assumptions. They are very hush hush about admissions process)
I submitted my application January 30th. But my application status says hold for information. I'm currently enrolled in 3 pre reqs. It lists the due date for my final 3 grades in May but what if by that time they don't have anymore seats?
On the TEAS I got a 92 in Reading, a 93 in Math but a little under 70 in Science but I think that was due to me not yet completing Microbiology and anatomy II (currently enrolled this semester). Do you think they'll take that into consideration?
Im just really anxious and not sure if I still have a chance. All of my completed prereqs are A's and B's only one C+ in chemistry lecture but a B in the lab. Any advice? Do you guys think I'll still have a shot once the semesters over?

Hi Cindy,
Thank you SO much AGAIN. You're a lifesaver! I really hope I get in and attend--please be my mentor if I do. How many days are you at the clinical sites for the first and second semesters? Are you enjoying the program and clinical placements so far?! I wish there was a day in the life video. I have so much on the line-- I am a bit older (in my 30's) and would be paying tuition out of pocket. At the end of the day, I know I want it more than anything because I'm willing to use all my savings for it. Again, thank you for your time!!

I am currently enrolled in Developmental Psych and will finish it in May this year. Does anyone know if it's okay to have one prerequisite in progress at time of application?
Thanks!
Hi!
I was accepted and I need a second Sociology/Anthropology course which I will be finishing by May so I think you are fine!

Do they only pick one day a week to do interviews?
