SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University ABSN 2024

Published

Hi everyone,

I haven't seen any thread for the SUNY Downstate ABSN program for the Fall 2024 start so I thought so here's one for anyone applying/attending/etc!

Does anyone know how many people they accept each cycle?

I believe around 85 students per cohort, the dean mentioned it at the latest open house

Ohh okay. I wonder if it is actually rolling admissions or if they just randomly go through them. It seems like they haven't really been going in order.

I have a picture of the last admissions stats and they took in 121 out of 327 applicants. Their goal was 115-120 applicants.

Oh wow, I doubt they are close to that number then. Hopefully we all have a good chance!

I just got my acceptance today!

I submitted my application around 1/31/2024 and got the faculty screener assigned for about a week before I got an email for an interview. My interview was yesterday and they emailed me with my decision this morning! I got a 96.7% overall on my TEAS (reading: 92.3, math: 100, science: 100, English: 97) and had a 3.60 overall prereq GPA and 3.40 cumulative GPA. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Wonderful. This is great. Congratulations. What program did you use to prep for the TEAS?

Hey, does anybody know if we're allowed to send another TEAS score even though the status of the application states "faculty screener assigned"

You can up until the due date for the application. I'm assuming you are using your 1 retake within same application cycle. May I ask why you retake the test when a faculty screener was assigned?

I was thinking that it can increase my chances maybe because I feel like my reading score of 79.5 is not making me eligible. But I don't know if it's worth it, if my application was already assigned to someone.

That is a good idea. The anxiety is so much having to wait to learn what their decision is.

Yeah it's really killing me. I wanted to call them to ask if it is a good idea but they aren't picking up the phones? because this exam isn't cheap too.
