SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University ABSN 2024

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi everyone,

I haven't seen any thread for the SUNY Downstate ABSN program for the Fall 2024 start so I thought so here's one for anyone applying/attending/etc!

Hi! For everyone who is currently in the program or has any insight on this... How were locations for clinicals assigned?  I'm a bit older and working full-time as a speech-language pathologist-- wondering if I can keep my job or switch to part-time. The commute would be a huge part of my life. Thank you in advance for any and all input! Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone! I applied to SUNY Downstate's ABSN program, and it was completely submitted by 1/31. I just did my interview yesterday morning (2/14). Does anyone have any idea of when I'll hear back about an acceptance or rejection? Good luck to everyone!

Wonderful. What were your stats for the TEAS?

I officially got my acceptance! For my TEAS, I got an 88 in math, and a 93 in reading, but I did not do well on my science section... I got below a 70. I have strong science prerequisite grades from my undergrad, which probably helped to offset my bad science score. Good luck to you!

Is there anyone else who got am email for an interview but their TEAS score didn't meet the requirements? I mean like for reading and math because for science they said preferred :(.

My scores:

Reading: 79.5

Math: 100

Science: 90

I'm worried that about my .5. My GPA is a 3.8 and my science is a 3.6 I think.

Wonderful. My guest might be right. Priority is being given to those who met the TEAS requirement.

Yeah that makes sense. I'll just have to pray then :,(

That seems like a good guess to me, but I got a 95 overall on my TEAS:

91 in science, 100 in math, 93 in reading,

and I still haven't heard anything. My status has been "faculty screener assigned" for almost two weeks. Not sure what order they're going in.

Are you missing anything from your application? Like I still have to take microbio. I was thinking that might also be another reason for me

Are they going in order? Mine was forwarded on the 24th and it has been on faculty screener assigned. I have a 90 on the TEAS and my overall GPA is 3.8. I still have yet to hear back.

That makes two of us. My nerves and my heart. I really feel like I'm one with this school and can't think of applying to any other or having to wait another year.

I've taken all the prereq. In fact my undergrad courses are the strongest. All but one course  was A.  The other was B+ (micro).

Yeah I really like Downstate too. They seem like they really care about the individual and it's a cheaper program compared to the rest in NYC.
