Hi everyone, 

I haven't seen any thread for the SUNY Downstate ABSN program for the Fall 2024 start so I thought so here's one for anyone applying/attending/etc!

 

any updates from anyone lately?

Financial aid question for anyone who knows. But I just got financial aid for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 for about 12k. Will this be all the financial aid I will receive for the program? Or will there be another financial aid package for the Summer semester as well?

I applied early fall 2023 (October with free waiver) but was told during an in person open house they will not look at applications without the TEAS scores. I took the TEAS late because I did not have the ID and needed to wait to get it. I failed the Reading  and passed everything else. They told me to retake exam and pass with minimum score of 80 in reading and math. I am retaking exam and submitting scores 2 days before the deadline.

hi everyone, my name is Christina Corye and I also got excepted into fall 2024  ABSN program. I will also be dorming on campus as I live on Long Island. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Does anyone know how I can prepare before going into school? Also I have a bachelor's in Biological Sciences from suny Old Westbury, got a 89 on my TEAS.

Hi! We usually have online classes on Tuesday. The first semester we had 3 classes on Tuesday and 1 Thursday night. It is doable. The first semester Pharm and Patho are the main focuses. Pharm we had a quiz every week but I found it helpful as the constant studying help me memorize my meds. We had sim labs the first few weeks of the semester and then placed in nursing homes for our first clinicals. Instructors are nice and usually always willing to help/ move things around according to student. 

Hey, I got accepted for fall 2024. What can I do to prepare before I go to school? 

Also what do you think about the nursing program

hey guys, I applied in August 2023 and I got my acceptance letter and interview in December 2023 for the ABSN fall 2024

Congrats. Although I chose another school over Downstate, I'm happy to still be reading the comments of all those who got accepted. Who knows. Maybe some of us will end up together in Dowstate  masters or DNP program in the future. Congrats to all the nurses in the making. I'm super happy for all of us.
