Usually it means your application is under review. They never go too deep into the details... but there some people who don't hear back until May or June. I don't think everyone gets screener assigned until the school is actively processing your application. I think It's definitely a good sign, they are prob deciding if your application qualify to move forward the next step. (This is based on my assumptions. They are very hush hush about admissions process)

Hi we are only on campus once a week so for the first semester I think if you're willing to put up with the commute time- then no need to move! I know the commute is a pain but it will save more money than moving down to Brooklyn. Especially due to everything being online, I don't think it's necessary. It might even be cheaper to rent a cheap hotel in the city or Brooklyn the night before and take the train over. The second semester you can pick different sites. We had montefiore this semester and a few city sites as well. You will enroll for Spring semester around thanksgiving usually, and decide if you need to move to Brooklyn for the Spring.

Hi good luck to you. your stats r pretty amazing. If u got faculty screener assigned I wouldn't worry too much abt the score until the interviewer tells u otherwise or u get an email about it. They will usually email students if something is lacking /missing in requirements.

Hi. Clinicals r kind of assigned at random the first semester. We are at nursing homes 1st sem, so the school finds ones that are nearby Brooklyn. For the second semester it was difficult for everyone to get psychiatric clinical this cohort. I'm not sure if previous cohorts had issues. They never mentioned. But we got to pick on first come first serve basis for med surg placement. There are a few city locations. Brooklyn and a couple in queens. This semester so far we worked with NYP, Bellevue, queens hospital and Jamaica hospital and our university hospital at downstate. I think work schedule really depends on the person. If you can afford it, I recommend part time. First semester is a little more doable. But so far Spring semester has been super busy for us all. We have 100 this cohort. But it's usually 70-80

Theirs is no in person classes at all. We only meet once a week for sim labs for the first 6 weeks. Afterwards that lab day will be used as a clinical day for foundations clinical. Be warn there is a lot of assignments, especially on ATI. Also since I forgot to mention it, expect books each semester to be 1k??. There's no way around it because they use it for homework assignments as well. As for other cost, stethoscope and graduation cost are something you would have to pay for. There is a parking lot of 14/ day. I can't exactly recall how much hours I spent. Overall the first semester of nursing school for me was better than my undergrad experiences getting pre reqs. I think the professors make or break the experience. Last cohort they had different professors so they may not had the same experience as me, and incoming cohort may have different staff members as well. I also think that the way they plan the lectures for me felt very doable, I enjoyed pharm and patho althought it was def challenging. I usually spent mornings and homework and would go out nights for dinner and catch up with friends to keep me sane.

For interviews I would advise everyone to be open + show your personality. We are told not to share interview questions, but think of some common ones such as why you want to do nursing, and what drew you into downstate. Don't be shy to talk, and show who you are. Your application and resume are just words, your interview brings the real you. Good luck everyone.

Hi there are even some who work full time in the program. I would say if u are worried about GPA, applying for NP schools etc it would be better to focus on the program without work. Personally I worked only 1-2 days and some weeks I didn't work at all. I was lucky enough that my current job allow me to be flexible in my schedule. I would say in the first 2 weeks it is a little crazy to get everything down because there's a lot of assignments and every professor has their own unique requirements. We only had classes on Tuesdays and 1 Thursday night. I think the program tries it best to accommodate working ppl/ ppl with families. They have let us know that the hospital closing won't affect the school. They are trying to make it more of an outpatient clinic + adding new school facilities. But it may not even happen, we haven't heard too much news about it.

Hi! We usually have online classes on Tuesday. The first semester we had 3 classes on Tuesday and 1 Thursday night. It is doable. The first semester Pharm and Patho are the main focuses. Pharm we had a quiz every week but I found it helpful as the constant studying help me memorize my meds. We had sim labs the first few weeks of the semester and then placed in nursing homes for our first clinicals. Instructors are nice and usually always willing to help/ move things around according to student.

Hi I made a video on my stats, advice, and comparing NYU program with suny downstate. I also can answer any questions u guys have. I accepted the deposit it was 500 dollars but Im withdrawing as the overall cost of program is just too expensive for me. for 1 year it was 60k, which they count as the first two semesters. so the total price is 120K roughly. Since I'm withdrawing, hopefully one of you will be able to get my spot. Good luck everyone

I remember it being SUPER early. Only a couple days after the application opened I submitted it. I uploaded updates transcripts and recommendations after submission. I believe it was still September.

Hey guys, got accepted today! I was committed to another school but after consideration decided to go w NYU instead. I completed my FAFSA before my acceptance. My package said the tuition was 61k not including additional fees and housing etc. hope that helps because some people are curious. I'm not sure if that's my personal tuition or everyone had that same one. On Allnurses we r only allow to share facebook group links. If there hasn't been one made I can make one for us and share the link with everyone so we can stay in touch ? my GPA is 3.6 and science was mainly Bs and a few As. I have 2 years of medical experience. I think my essay and strong LOR really pulled through considering a lot of replies here have impressive stats. Look forward to meeting everyone!

Hi. On YouTube there a girl who records her experience with pace. Overall doesn't sound bad but I've seen complaints on their administrations and they say it's disorganized.( keep in mind they will say this about a lot of accelerated programs- but pace seems to have more complaints?) Also their NCLEX pass rate in the city is around 80% which is significantly lower than Downstate and other ABSN programs which are 90 and up. It's an 11 month program at pace so it will be stressful on top of the administration mishaps. If you think you can do the 11 months go for it. I picked downstate because it is cheaper and higher NCLEX pass rate + diversity if students. I visited the pace campus and loved it but not much diversity. The schedules are about the same. They both say two days classes and two days of clinicals/ labs. Downstate security is always there to look out for students and keep in mind you can drive or leave with a group of students since we will mostly have same schedules. Also downstate is hybrid right now so some classes are online.

Hi everyone! Got accepted today, so excited. I'll post my stats bc ik ppl are curious my undergrad GPA is a 3.6 science GPA I think its around 3.2-3.5? I'm not too sure on this. I got mostly Bs in a lot of my science due to balancing work and stuff- wish I focused more on school my TEAS I got a 90+ in reading and math but my science was lacking below a 70. I was nervous about my grades but I do have 2 years of medical experience along with pharmacy and customer service experience. I also think my essay and LORs were pretty strong. For the interview just be yourself- they ask us not to share interview questions so I will respect that; but you can find "nursing school interview questions" to help yourself prepare. They really do look at your application holistically which I appreciate, nursing is my passion and my biggest career commitment- as long as you are able to show this to admissions staff they will consider you! Show them your personality and what makes you a good candidate for nursing. Maybe we can make a fb group/ discord for students as well? I know some other cohorts do this and I would be down to join ?
