  1. Congrats! You should get the background check done asap. It's done online so just get it over with. I didn't have to do the drug test... yet... I don't know if anyone else did it. I think they're going to wait closer to the start of the semester to have us do it. I also recommend getting your health forms done cause as you can see from my previous messages they take a very very long time to go through them and if you miss something you have to get it fixed/ completed asap. Some people went in person to submit there's just so it can get cleared quickly
  2. Just an update. They finally got back and told me they're taking a little long reviewing everyone's submissions because of high volumes of inquiries. I think they're starting to go through everyone's health forms now so look out for an email if you didn't hear back yet because I need to submit additional stuff.
  3. Hey guys, For those that were accepted to the program did you guys receive an email today stating that Health Forms needed to be submitted and if you already submitted email them back with the date you submitted it? I received this email twice already even though I submitted everything back in February. They won't even let me know if everything is good or if I need to submit more information/ get more vaccines. I also don't know why they're telling us to submit through medicat when we don't have our logins yet. Wanted to know if anyone was in the same boat ?
  4. Hey did you apply before the January deadline? I heard they moved the deadline up to April. Do not worry about your checklist!! Nothing on my checklist was checked off besides my TEAS Exam after I uploaded the score and still nothing is checked off after being accepted LOL. You just have to wait for that interview call. Post-acceptance you get this pre-metric checklist you have to go through and get everything done. We haven't gotten any other updates yet such as meeting dates/ advisement. I believe orientation is in August and we speak with someone about classes in July.
  5. Hey guys, For those that have been accepted, did you guys complete your pre-matric checklist? I completed everything that they asked for but they haven't updated my health forms section yet. Just wanted to know if this is the same for anyone else or if I should email them to get it checked off
  6. Hey, Cindy basically summed up why I chose Suny Downstate too. I'm not really concerned about the commute because it took me an hr to get to my undergrad school too. Keep in mind lectures are all on 1 day and it's online for the convenience of students and it was requested by the students from previous cohorts. There are shuttles that take you to clinicals affiliated with Downstate like the Maimonides Hospital. I did get accepted to Pace last year and pulled my application because the program was way too fast paced and they offered no financial help and it is very very expensive. I believe a previous student said it's around 70k excluding textbooks, uniform, etc. If you missed the ABSN info session (I don't think they did one for this year) maybe try calling the office and see if you can ask questions.
  7. Hey you can read previous post in this thread, some interview tips were given. They ask everyone to not give out interview questions so I'll respect that but definitely be yourself. They have a very holistic approach to accepting people. Make sure you remember what you wrote on your essay and any of the questions you answered on the application bc they might bring that up to try and get to know you better. Definitely ask questions at the end of the interview. They love to see that you're interested in the program. Goodluck!
  8. Congrats on getting accepted Cindy!! I unfortunately don't have facebook but maybe you can start a group for the people that do so they can join like the previous cohorts
  9. Hey did anyone that got accepted complete their health forms yet and got an update on what to do next?
  10. I can't remember but I think they send the zoom link the day before the interview so don't worry, you'll probably get it around then. You'll learn a lot during the second half of the interview so definitely ask questions for some insight. From what I was told they have their own hospital in Brooklyn (shuttle takes you) and ofc a handful of other sites in Brooklyn and then very few in the other boroughs. Clinicals is first come first serve for placement so it's all up to you and if you choose "first" My stats were 3.0 undergrad and 4.0 in prereqs (all A's) but I did retake some prereqs. They took into consideration my improvement, I also worked at a hospital and had two strong LOR. My TEAS score was not that great (80% overall/ 85% reading/ 88% math/ 78% science)
  11. I think they're working fast too. Was honestly shocked when they started calling for interviews beginning of December. So with the shuttle from what I've seen there's a parking lot shuttle, hospital shuttle, and transportation shuttle that takes you to I believe the bus/train stations around the area. Honestly I will be doing the 1+ hour commute bc I was doing the same commute to my college in Manhattan. There's an upside tho, they said that they do all lectures on the same day and lectures will be online. Students would just have to go in for lab/ clinicals.
  12. Congrats! I got accepted too!!
  13. My biggest advice is to be yourself, make sure you can answer questions related to your transcript, personal statement, and anything you put on your application. They read EVERYTHING and the interview is just for them to get to know you better. There's no curveball questions at all and they try to make you as comfortable as possible. Goodluck!
  14. I will be commuting, I heard they have shuttle buses too
  15. Hey I got called for an interview on December 14th. Was honestly shocked cause it was so early in December. When you get the call your interview will most likely be the next day, it's on zoom so no traveling and IDK if they're doing group interviews but my interview was one on one
