Hi everyone,
I've started this thread so we can discuss and share our experiences applying to SUNY's ABSN program for 2020. This is my second time applying. I waited till the very last day of the deadline to submit my application last year (I knowww) since I had taken the TEAS and had just gotten the results. However, I've already submitted my application for the upcoming year and hope to get a call for an interview. Looking forward to chatting with you all.
Sidenote: I really like the upgrade they did to the online application. So much more user-friendly.
@poisonjade what time was your interview? I had an interview at 2Pm but did not hear anything back. I am so worried that I might not be accepted since people from the morning interview got their acceptance.

You are thinking correct. There is also some extra projects that we complete as well as a part of the group. Except for the honors groups, everyone must sign up for a new clinical placement every semester, you may end up at the hospitals I mentioned (maimo and downstate also have regular rotations in addition to honors).
If you're interested in the free clinic as well, nothing prevents you from applying to both. As Michelle mentioned, there is plenty of opportunities to shine. If you wanted to you could also engage in existing research projects at downstate and be a part of the student government.
Hey all! Since they extended the application date, what does this exactly mean? I am finishing my application now, pending taking the TEAS next week. Since people were already accepted into the program, whom applied much earlier, are my chances any more slim than they would have originally been? I'm just confused on that process of extending the date when they've already held most of their interviews ? Did they state how long they were holding interviews for? Sorry, I haven't read this entire thread, I only recently joined it!
Thank you & good luck to all! ?
Does anyone know the timeline of the program? I know it starts in may and it says 15 months so does that mean they are two summer semesters and graduation is in September 2021? Also if accepted is there a specific dress code for actual classes (lecture and lab)? Do you think sandals and comfortable attire okay?

Commencement is in May but you have another semester left to finish so basically end classes in early August and get the degree conferred by the end of that month. You can pass NCLEX in spetember if you wish.
There is a dress code but is not upheald much. Just don't wear sweats and I would not recommend sandals as classrooms run freezing. You wear preapproved scrubs and shoes to labs and clinicals.

1. Does anyone who has gotten accepted still have outstanding pre-reqs to complete this upcoming semester?
2. My checklist was updated last week to reflect that they have received my fall grades, but there are still three action items left unchecked. The first two are just classes I need to take next semester (which shouldn’t keep my application from moving forward for review) and the last one was a mistake on their part that they fixed by writing below the action item name that it was solved, but it hasn’t been checked off.
My application is still listed as “screening in process” despite technically being complete, and I’m getting nervous that there is some kind of confusion happening. I wrote to them a week ago but have not heard back. I do not want to hound them but I am also trying to weigh the possibility that my application hasn’t been progressed because the checklist looks incomplete (even though it isn’t).
If anyone has experienced anything similar please let me know!
I'm in a similar boat! Last month they emailed me saying my application was on hold until my Fall grades are submitted. I took Microbio and A+P II Fall semester. I submitted the grades on December 22. My remaining pre-reqs are CLEP Math ( I'll take the College Algebra test) and CLEP Dev psychology (I was a psych major but my dev psych class didn't cover adulthood and aging). I hope to study for and take these tests soon!
My status says screening in process. I sent them an email asking whether I owe them any more information and they said I did not. So, yeah, just anxiously waiting!!! I applied with my TEAS in on October 27. I wish they were more communicative. I worry they are going to get back to me in a few months and say something like: wow, you thought THAT would count as anthropology?? nope! We can't even consider you!

Has anyone been rejected yet? I'm getting nervous. My interview was last Wednesday and still haven't heard back.
