Hello Everyone.
I was just wondering if anyone out there applied for the 2018-2019 program at downstate? Hoping we can all loop each other in on the status.
Hi, I'm so happy I found this forum!
I just went to the nursing info session yesterday and learned a couple new things. I'm applying to the accelerated nursing program (15 months).
1.) For our cohort, we will be interviewed in groups of 6 with 2 interviewers (accelerated nursing director and RN-BS director). Questions are simple "get to know you", nothing science related.
2.) Admitted class size is now 80, last year was 70.
3.) Competitive TEAS scores are 90% Math 90% English (minimum is 80%).
4.) Interviews will start and decisions will be around January/February.
5.) Competitive GPA's are at least 3.5 but GPA isn't everything! They look at your application holistically.
6.) If you go to Brooklyn College, there are 15 spots set aside especially for you guys.
7.) Try to have your transcript looked over by an admissions counselor because it helps put a face to your application, and you can assess how strong of a candidate you are.
That's about it for now, if there's anything else I'll update this.

This is so helpful! Thank you.
I have two pre-reqs left to complete in the spring 2018, microbio and a archaeology course. I went over my transcript with the admissions counselor and everything was in tip top shape!
Answering a question above,
you are invited to interview if you accumulate at least 12 out of 24 available points offered based off of evaluations, gpa, teas etc.
I'm not sure the ratio but if you get at least 12 points you will be invited to interview!
my application still says: screening in process , (anyone know what this means)?

No I don't. I had them all completed a couple years ago when I first applied. Alotta the liberal arts/humanities requirements I did with my first bachelors.
