Thank you @KateNYC! Do you think there were any questions that you would think may catch someone off guard? I'm so nervous! I really hope I get in, I hope this interview doesn't blow my chances of getting in!
Someone in my group was asked what type of cookie they are, but I think those sort of questions are just to assess how well you can think on your feet. Take a deep breath, think of the positive qualities about yourself you want to highlight, and think of an answer that reflects that. So as far as a cookie goes, they really don't care what cookie you are, they care about how you came to the answer. So "I'm a snickerdoodle, because I'm sweet like a sugar cookie, but I have spice and more flavor. I'm reliable, consistent, and I'm good with kids". Not saying that should be your answer. That's for any of "what vegatable/song/movie are you?" type questions. Pick the quality you want to highlight and work backwards. And if you need a minute to think, take a deep breath, think, then answer. It won't be as long as it feels to you.
Someone was also asked their feelings on euthanasia. I don't know how I would answer that.
It's hard to say what questions you might get considering there are 70 of them. Go in knowing what qualities you want to highlight, have examples that show you exhibiting those qualities, know what previous experiences you have that make you a strong candidate, and know that everyone going in is just as nervous as you are. I found it helpful to talk to the other people interviewing while we waited, so it felt more like we were going in as a team instead of as rivals for the same spot. I'm really hoping they got in as well, they were super nice!
Would you mind letting me know what the status of your application said prior to interviewing? Mines still stuck at "forwarded to admissions committee for review". Thank you so much! :)
I submitted on Aug 27 and everything was complete Sep 21 and was notified of an interview on Nov 29.

This is what mine was up until they accepted me, even after the interview.
I have created a facebook group for those that were accepted to the suny downstate 2018-2019 program. It is searchable on facebook. Good luck to everyone!

That is what it said for me as well even after interviewing.
