Suny downstate absn 2018-2019

Hello Everyone.

I was just wondering if anyone out there applied for the 2018-2019 program at downstate? Hoping we can all loop each other in on the status.

Not sure if anyone has encountered the same issue, wanted to put this out here as a warning in case anyone does. I submitted my application by Nov 20th and my letters of recommendation were completed by November 30th. I checked early December for my status which said "Incomplete Review" I read on this forum in a past post that someone also had "Incomplete Review" as their status, called the school and was notified that it only meant their application was in the middle of review. I decided to give it some time to change status again. I checked again today (12/18) and it still says "Incomplete Review" so I called the school who informed me I was missing my TEAS scores and should have received an email alerting me. I submitted my TEAS scores with my application and never received any time of email regarding this. I insisted they check again. The women from admissions then tells me "Oh, they're there. Ok, we will change your status." And immediately my status changed. Now I am incredibly concerned, I submitted everything correctly and on time but if a mix up like this happens, it definitely lessens my chance from a spot in the program. I am also upset at myself for trusting a post as opposed to just calling outright. Hope this will help others that have the same status in the future.

As for the interview, they have a list of 70 something questions and go around the room making you pick random numbers and then they give you one.

Some questions were outrageous I must say í ½í¸¸ BUT interviewers were very sweet and made us super comfortable. Questions are designed to get to know you as a person and your morals.

Do they interview every applicant? I have spoken to some people who have been in the program in the past and weren't interviewed. Also their website, or at least the admissions website, says that this department doesn't perform interviews. So I am curious as to how this interview process plays out. Is this something they do on and off?

Dr Carr said they were interviewing competitive applicants, and that they would be interviewed in the order in which they applied.
