Summer School Starting

Nursing Students General Students

Hi all! Well, summer school starts tommorow. Today is a nice sunny 75 degree day here in Indy, so I think I am off for an enjoyable bike ride, then maybe play in the park with my daughter :) Tonight after dinner, I will finish up organizing my desk for this summer session. I am doing 2 classes, both are internet classes, so I have more freedom this summer than I would sitting in the classrom. I will be taking Lifespan Psych and Medical Law and Ethics. Lots of reading and 2 papers to write, so I see my late nights in front of the pc! (Well, I am sure I will be checking in on allnurses when I should be studying :chuckle

What's everyone else doing in summer session? When are you starting? How do you all feel about summer classes?

Specializes in Pediatrics.

We have A&P I and II starting June 22. We do that until a week before Labor Day, then we go off-site to get Red Cross CPR/First Aid trained, then come back for all the other classes for Fall semster. The nursing director said "The summer will make you or break you...it's formatted to weed out the weak!" That doesn't sound good, especially since I just scraped by in biology some five odd years ago.

Oooh I wish I could take A&P online!! I start tomorrow as well. I'll be taking Psych 201, Computers 101 (easy A :)), and College 101, all online. It's my first semester in school since 1991!!! so wish me luck :coollook:

Hi Lori,

You have a few days on me. I am taking an microeconomics class, microbiology, managment, and blasted speech (yuck. ..required).

This is my first summer session. Not as many weeks so at a faster pace.

Specializes in Psych.

Hi all, I start A&P I the second week in June. I hope it's fun and interesting. I just finished Chem and I'm doing the happy dance because I just found out I really aced it! (87 out of 88 on the final - woo hoo!) Hope this one will be the same so that it increases my chances for admission when I apply in August. Best of luck to us all.

There is an online lab with it. It's a 4 credit course, but just online instead of classroom.

Where are you taking this, at a community college or a website? could you email me the info? Thanks

I started Chemistry and Public Speaking last week.

Chem, PS and then I go to work on MOndays (till 10:30P)

Tuesdays, I have OFF!!! :rotfl: (but there's ballet and softball practice and DOG obedience training that evening!)

Wednasdays are Chem, PS and then work till 10:30p

Thursdays I have OFF!!! :rotfl:

Fridays are Chem and then work at 6p to 6a

SAturdays are work at 6p to 6a

Sundays are family days (haha)

Then it all starts over!

But this will only go till June 21st, then I will be in Summer II which is Spanish I and that's Mon-Fri from 9a-11:30a.

Hi all!

I start summer semester June 7th... I'm taking Chemistry and A & P. I had a pre-anatomy class this past semester (Anatomy Structure and Function), so I hope it will help me with the fast pace of the big A & P!

Good luck in classes everyone!

Michelle :)

Specializes in Urgent Care.

I'll be doing the CNA program starting June 6th. I'm trying to make the best of these 3 weeks off! LOL

Specializes in Emergency Dept, M/S.
Where are you taking this, at a community college or a website? could you email me the info? Thanks

I sent you an email, but so everyone knows, the course I'm taking is through EduKan, a network of CC's in Kansas. The Url is http://www.edukan.org/index.real?action=welcome.

Specializes in Gynecology/Oncology.
How are you taking A&P online? In my program you have to have a lab. Just curious.

I'm taking micro online, and we have one all day lab that we have to drive to.

Specializes in Burn/Trauma PCU.

I'm taking Microbiology Mondays & Wednesdays, starting tonight, and Nutrition on Thursday nights. It's my first set of major prereqs - I took Developmental Psych last fall but that was a joke since all the tests were, no joke, multiple-choice take home, 25 questions each (and people STILL failed!). Anyway, I'm hoping I'll do really well... I was never much of a science buff during my 1st degree, but then again, I wasn't interested in ANYTHING other than music at the time!

Good luck to all of you! :clown:

Specializes in Peds.

I've got an 8-week OB/Peds rotation this summer starting tomorrow. 4-weeks OB, then 4-weeks peds. I'll be in clinical tuesday and wendesday from 7-4, and thursday we've got a full day 9-3 (hour for lunch) of lecture, on hour lab a week. We'll have a quiz every week and there is a TON of reading. We did have the reading assignment last week, but I needed to wind down from the spring before the summer started so I haven't gotten very far.

How do you get all of the reading in AND study the material at the same time??!!?? I'll be lucky if I can get everything read each week, don't know when I'll get a chance to go back over and study the material. I do tape my lectures so that I can re-listen and streamline my notes from class.

good luck all,

Smarge :uhoh3:
