Summer school anyone?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey guys!!!!

well for all of us pre nursing students...anyone taking classes during the summer or doing anything exciting?

For me, I am taking philosophy: logic

and

Intro to psychology:yawn:

meh talk about a very BORING 6-week summer...

and the topper? I have class at 8 am! ARGH, not the way I wanted to start summer. And no, there is no other class being offered, so I need this logic class for the BSN program I am applying for this Oct!

After class gets out (around early August) I have like 3 weeks off until regular semester starts...blah, I will probably be working fulltime...

As for extra-curricular activities? Besides working the weekends, I will be either looking for a HC job or volunteering.

What about everyone else!?!?!?

Scoteeee I believe you are pre-nursing before you start your actual nursing classes. Do you?

I mean, I'm accepted to the program too but I'll start in January 2012. Now doing Lifespan and Statistic just for general education requirements. Still I'm pre-nursing

I start in August, all of my prerequisites and co-requisites will be done July 8th!!

I'm half way through the actual nursing course sequence. I'm done with prereqs and all that I'm just taking courses just to take them over the summer.

I am soooo close to being done with pre-reqs!!

**Taking 3 summer classes: Medical Terminology I, Foundations of Biology (developmental, b/c I didn't care in high school), and Drug Dosage for Nursing

I don't really need the med term class, but taking it because I'm sure it will help me in some way and I need another class to get financial aid! :-0

I think Anatomy & Physiology is my absolute favorite course...I learned so much and really enjoyed the class, prayed a lot, and worked hard...hey, I did great - just finished with an A! Just adding that in in case anyone is scared of A&P - just ask around to make sure you have a good teacher, because if you do, you will do well and you will learn so much that i'm sure will be of help to you in the furture.

Well, as most of you, I am waiting to hopefully be accepted into the program. At the local CC, the program starts each summer...and now that i'm almost done w/pre-reqs I can apply extremely early - which they say is the absolute best thing to do.

I know how you guys feel as being "almost done" with pre req

get this:

for ADN programs I qualify this June to apply--not going to, want my BSN

for one BSN program I qualify in August to apply in Oct.--will apply but you apply a year early to get in (ie. I apply this fall to GET IN TO next fall)

for the other two BSN programs, I qualify in December to apply in January--going to apply along with ADN programs JUST IN CASE

I hate the fact that there are different pre reqs everywhere! I wish all NS could all agree on what they take/accept

MOST courses overlap but I mean seriously, if you read the above I have a bunch of good schools to choose from but want a BSN, yet they have MORE REQ then ADN blah

Ugh well like all of you, I could apply in a few months, its just in my area, ADN are not getting hired, plus who wants to waste time doing an ADN-BSN bridge when you could do it in one shot AND have a better chance of getting hired!!!

BeachBedHead, I think that is a smart move, if I could do a BSN I would. I made every class count, all of my humanities/electives are courses that will transfer to the RN-BSN program I hope to attend. It is making my pre-reqs more difficult, but worth it in the long run.

I totally know how you feel!

I want to be in nursing school and be an RN ASAP! But problem is I want my BSN (I already have an associates in science) and I actually want a job after graduation (not like its guaranteed after I get my BSN, but my chances are better).

So its either wait an extra year to get into a BSN program (start fall 2012) or get into an ADN in January and get my RN in 2 years then do an RN-BSN bridge and get my BSN in another 1-2 years.

Either way I have to wait and I rather just get my BSN, have a better chance at a job and be done with everything vs. getting it done in different steps and times and having less chance of a job.

I will be taking good ol' Algebra (8 wk class) and theatre appreciation (4 wk class) over the summer before starting my BSN program in August. My math did not transfer and since I was accepted into a liberal arts (private) college I am short a fine arts elective.

It's Micro for me (T and Th 8-2:30). My last class before Nursing School which starts in the Fall :0)

I am taking a summer class as well Micro T/Th @ 9am til 12:53(1pm) and also an online class marriage and family.
