At my program there is an optional summer class. You can take it for 3 or 6 weeks over the summer or during the fall term for 2 hours a week. It is a 2 credit 30 hour course. The class is on different little things like the NCLEX, evidenced based practice research, interviewing and applying for nursing jobs, and nursing ethics.
I'm taking mental health this summer so I don't have two lecture classes next fall. I know some folks are taking complex health alterations instead of MH, but that sounds like a big fat opportunity to fail, so I'm taking the path of least resistance.
A few people failed promotions or alterations and will take that this summer to catch up with our class. I don't think anyone can make up failed clinicals, so they're out of our class and will graduate (at least) a semester behind.

For those of you that are currently in a two year (ADN) nursing program, are there any summer nursing classes that you are able to take after your first year of nursing school is over with?
